Hey y'all - just wanted to say if they make it up your way, do yourself a favor and go..
Absolutely amazing show. I caught three of them (2 Atlanta, 1 Asheville NC), and was blown away.

They sound as if they never left the stage 8 years ago.
They played for just over 2 hours, and Kate Hudson was shaking her money maker the whole time, each show..

These guys rocked like an authentic Classic Rock Band.........

I haven't seen, smelt, felt or tasted that much 2nd hand ganja smoke since the mid 80's when I saw shows like Triumph, Boston and Rush down at the old AUD in Buffalo. It was everywhere ~~ around us as we stood 25 feet back from the stage dead-centre..... there were guys with their eyes shut....teetering....& more woman getting high then ever.... seemlessly...grooving like a scene out of ALMOST FAMOUS

It seemed fitting to see Chris Robinson slither around the stage looking like a thin Jim Morrision..... and chanting "We're all the same" " You, you"
"Me me".... "it's all right here" as he points to his forehead.... and we hear the echos of each word twice..... it worked for him

Once the sound settled in.... wow .......ROCK & ROLL...anyone
You just don't see anymore. The show overall was just fantastic..... it was so nice to here a favourite of mine WISERTIME....but the 10minute+ version of THORN IN MY PRIDE was one of the best live performances I've seen in 20 years.....which featured a bluesy rock jam followed by some serious GUITAR solos, a Drum solo and finally into Chris Robinson doing 3 minutes on Harmonica.... oh and of course back into the song....

I love when bands sound like the CD....when playing live but they jammmed out a few songs and it was so fitting to the show...

REMEDY was another that just grabbed my concert experiences and challenged them for what was really Rock & Roll.....

Throw in a keyboard solo from the Torontonian and an Acoustic number I didn't know...but sounded like Country-Rock-Blue-Grass.... oh yah and the one guitarist standing over at his amp...back-to-the-crowd rubbing who knows-what against his guitar-feedback...screeeeching Rock...... this guy rarely opened his eyes and never looked over at Rich Robinson to see if they were grooving together.... they just did it and it happened....
F$%k..... could they play guitar....

As many concerts as I've seen in 20 years I have not seen DMB or Phish who are known for what I've mentioned and there are prolly others...so.. take this for what it's worth.. It's RARE....seeing bands AUTHENTICALLY ROCK like this now-a-days....I say this as a true fan of live music... it's all good... but what I saw last night .... really puts into perspective what I saw...

IT WAS CLASSIC ROCK .

some really great great southern rock...such a wicked groove all the way through makes me want to pull out the Allman brothers, Derek and the Dominos, Skynyrd CD's to name a 8) few...not sure if I even put them away....
don't buy weed from your speed dealer...I love it..

INSTANT LIVE was there taping the show from soundboard to CD's (2) and they are sold at every show for $30cdn - I didn't stick around to buy it... but notived they had the nights before for sale (montreal)....

I could be wrong, but didn't the Hip play a show with the Crowes in the U.S. a few years ago? I seem to remember somebody reviewing that show and mentioning that the the Hip/Crowes combination was one of the best rock pairings they'd ever seen.

That was me, and it was The Concert for Harmony in Aspen in August 98. It was a 2 day event with bands that played before them (Greyboy Allstars are the only one I can remember) and then the Hip followed by the Black Crowes. The second day featured Big Head Todd & The Monsters followed by the Black Crowes.

It was an amazing show that was set in a natural amphitheatre at the base of Buttermilk mountain. I drove from Saskatoon to see it and it was such a treat to experience the Hip outside of Canada. I was front row for most of the Hip, and I had all kinds of room to dance around and do my thing. It was also great to see the Hip win the largely inexperienced crowd over by the end of the first song...Grace Too.

That show ranks right up there with my all time favorite Hip shows.
