Theo Fleury's latest rant - cferneyh - 04-22-2005
I think that if the CBC was to create a reality TV series based on the typical day in the life of Theo Fleury, it would get higher ratings than HNIC. I know I'd watch.

“What (substance abuse) program? It’s not a program. It’s a punishment for having a disease that’s incurable,” he said. “I hope (the NHL has forgotten about him). Because I’ve forgotten about them.”
“It’s absolutely embarrassing to be a Canadian and to know there’s still that stuff going on,” Fleury admitted. “I almost called (Hockey Canada president) Bob Nicholson to give him back my gold medal from the Olympics. That’s how much this has affected me.”

Fleury should just get over himself already. What a hoser, eh? Fleury used to be a nifty little hockey player in his prime but now he is nothing but a whiner. In the article, it states that Theo doesn't want the hockey world's forgiveness but it seems to me like that is exactly what he wants. Fleury has got to realize that the NHL didn't make him an alcoholic. He talked about giving back his gold medal because a few people called him names at a few hockey games. Of course there is still racism in Canada, as there is all over the world. It will never go away and Fleury needs to quit being a drama queen and clue into the real world, and realize that not too many people give a crap about what he says.
I wonder if Theo gets tax breaks and free post secondary schooling.... :roll:

I enjoy him more or less implying that people should feel sorry for him because of his "disease", and later reminding people that he made $50 million playing hockey. Yeah, I feel his pain.

I couldn't agree more...however, thankfully, I have never been subject to sexual abuse. So I cannot comment on the effects that it might have on it's victims. Granted, many people have beaten the psychological trauma of attacks like this, but not everyone copes in the same manner. Same story with alcoholism, many have beaten it. So to say that it is "incurable" is just plain wrong.
Having said that, there's nothing I hate more than seeing people use a personal tragedy as a constant excuse for staging personal "pity parties". After a while the sympathy begins to ware off and people just don't care what happened to you anymore, unfortunately that is where Theo is now.

Alcoholism is not "incurable" and Im starting to think he doesnt want to be helped. Either way Im sick of hearing about him and his problems.

This guy was my favorite player when I was a kid. I still have my old-school Calgary Flames away jersey with his name and #14 on the back hanging in my closet. It's sad how pathetic he's become. Go away, Theo. Stop bothering people with your bullsh*t. It's getting tiresome.

Sad, really, to see how far Theo has fallen and how deep in denial he is. Guess $50mil doesn't buy you happiness.

i was a theo fleury fan until a few days ago....what a classless fuck....he rolls into town thinking his team is all that and then they lose to the thunder bay bombers in the semi final of the allan cup and when a player from thunder bay, who apparently was a fleury fan growing up,in the last minute of the game,taps him on the but with his stick & tells him he was a big fan growing up,what does theo do? gives him a shot to the face....he then proceeds to rip every other team in the tournament and the city of lloydminster as jealous racists who had it in for horse lake from the get go....to this mr. fleury i say, you are the most classeles individual i have ever come across. when hockey needs a bright light, you failed to deliver. when you could have been a strong voice for native kids everywhere, you did far more harm than good. you are where you deserve to be, i hope your "disease" never cures, in fact i hope it does you more harm and thanks for the reminder on why i don`t support multi-million dollar athletes
