X-Files movie? - Lizard King - 04-08-2005

IGN did an interview with David Duchovny and he said there looking to start on a new x-files movie next year! Im sooo stoked at the prospect, I hope it happens, lots of questions need answering still. Very few movie prospects get my mouth watering like this, but I loved that show and I was so upset when it stopped, that and Seinfeld packing it in just killed tv for me.

My sister lives in Banff, and a couple of weeks ago she got to meet Chris Carter in person when he was up skiing at Lake Louise. He mentioned that he was currently working on a new project, but wouldn't tell her exactly what it was. Perhaps he's writing the new X-Files script and he doesn't want to give anything away. Man, I hope this thing gets made. There was a huge void left in TV land when that show went off the air, and I always hoped they'd do another movie. This is exciting news!

yup, that's all 9 seasons on dvd, a couple were gifts, the rest I bought myself, I usually preordered them on amazon.com when they were at an introductory price so basically each one ran about $100 taxes included... so yeah, i guess you could say they costed a small fortune

I used to buy the mags from one of the news & books stores at the mall, I bought like the first 8 from there, and then signed up with the xfiles official fan club and got the rest through them. There were a couple I got off ebay also, they were only like $8 each.

I always thought that the live version of Poets would sound wicked enough to send chills if Gord whistled the X-Files theme at the start, it's a perfect match. Anyways, The Hip should do the soundtrack for the next X-Files movie. Totally.

No Aliens for X-Files 2
The sequel is still on.

May 19, 2006 - When we last heard an update on X-Files 2, Rob Bowman — who directed Fight the Future and hopes to helm the sequel — said the project was waiting on a script from Chris Carter, creator of the X-Files and Millennium television series. Bowman also suggested that the new film would be a stand-alone story, rather than continuing the conspiracy theme of the show's later seasons and X-Files: Fight the Future.



We're still waiting on that script, but it sounds like someone's going to get going on it soon. According to Sci Fi Wire, Frank Spotnitz has taken on the job of producing a screenplay for the X-Files sequel. Spotnitz was a producer on the TV show and also wrote several of its episodes. He's been connected to the X-Files sequel in previous reports as well.

Though no script exists yet, Spotnitz said that an idea for the movie has been fleshed out already. And confirming what Bowman said earlier, it will not tie into the alien conspiracy storyline, conforming instead to the show's earlier one-story-per-episode format of the show.

"No, we're not going into the mythology [again]. One of the things that was exciting about doing it is to not make it a mythology story, and it's like one of the stand-alone episodes. It's a bit scary. Of course, we will catch up with the characters and what is going on in their lives, but it's not about the alien conspiracy."

Although both David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson have long professed their willingness to return to X-Files, other problems continue to hold up production. In addition to having no screenplay, legal wrangling between Fox and Carter have kept the project stalled. Spotnitz tried to cast the issue in an optimistic light:

"David, Gillian and I, and even Chris Carter, all have deals in place, and once the legal issues are over with, we will go on with it. I'm hoping it will get resolved soon."

Its been awhile since Ive seen the last show as well, Im starting to forget too. What an amazing show that was, Im so glad its back on tv here. The last 2 episodes were the train cars with the supposed alien autopsy, those were sweet..aah memories. I guess I should break down and buy those dvd's one of these days.
