Matt Mays - LoftyPines - 03-03-2005

Last year I was a big fan of Matt Mays' "City of Lakes", so I bought the album and I was very disspointed. But now he has got his new album out and it features "Cocaine Cowgirl" which is an incredible track. Anyone else digging this tune, or bought the new album?

Unfortunately he isnt touring around my area any time soon. Sad And I missed seeing his act in London last summer.

Anyway, its a great tune, definitely check it out. It's on Itunes...

I was in London last weekend, and I must have heard that song at least 3 times on the radio while I was there... I guess it was a bit surprising to me because I hadn't heard of this guy before. But it is a solid song, no question about it.

I bought the first album after seeing him live a couple of times. I was disappointed, a little too country for me. His live show was a lot more rock and roll, so I'll be getting the new album Tuesday and hoping for the best. Definitely see him live if you get the chance.

Yeah, good song. I guess Don Smith produced Matt's new album. Up to Here sounded great, and his stuff with Keith Richards and Dylan and Petty sounded great so it was a good choice of a producer by Matt and the boys.

The new cd is fantastic. A little more rock and roll then his first (which I think is fantastic as well). Time of Your Life captures the live Matt Mays experience. All in all its a great cd and I recomend it to anyone!And its only $10.99 at futureshop so if you can support a great canadian band.

i concur the new cd is great got it on wednesday - the first single cocaine cowgirl is available for download on kazaa limewire etc -so check that out - cant really compare the first cd and this one as the first was a solo effort and more softer accoustic- but pick up both discs as they are great listens- " on the hood" is my fav song at the moment off of the new one --

I didnt hear of Matt until Cocaine Cowgirl......

However last nite they opened for Blue Rodeo here in Calgary and I was blown away - they had a rockin, solid set. I am rushing out to HMV this morning to buy their CD. To me , he has a sound somewhere between a Tom Petty and Sam Roberts.
Judging from last nite, I expect we're gonna hear alot of good stuff from these guys.

I loved his first album, and I love the new one as well. I've only seen him live once when he opened for Sam Roberts last year. I bought his album that same night. He was just here in Calgary opening for Blue Rodeo, but I wasn't able to go.

I saw them open for Blue Rodeo here in Halifax and just loved them. Their set was lively, they played well, they seemed to be having an amazingly good time, and they all wished their mums a happy Mother's Day. After that I just *had* to buy the CD.

Besides, I had one line from "Cocaine Cowgirl" lodged in my head, and I figured if I didn't learn the rest of the song that one line would drive me bonkers.

Anyway--they're definitely my discovery of the season. Thanks, BR!

Saw Matt Mays and El Torpedo open for Blue Rodeo in the Hammer last night. Solid! Matt kicked our some jams.

My first time seeing him -- wait, first time really hearing more than one of his songs. Live show was so good, picked up his disc right after.

If you ever get a chance to see him, take it!
