Commercially Hip? - skippy the wonder dog - 02-15-2005

My son was watching TV last night and I wasn't really paying attention, but a car commercial came on (Pontiac, I believe) and I could swear it used the riff from Three Pistols.

The cars are on a stage in front of rows of screaming fans and the riff repeats a few times. There are no vocals, or to be more accurate, there's a wordless vocal over top, but it's unmistakeably Three Pistols.

Anybody else seen (heard) this? Am I nuts?

I saw the same one today and I thought it was a rip off of Vertigo. I will have to check it out a couple more time.

There is also one that is a rip off of a Radiohead song, but I can't think of waht song, it has the mechanic working under that car as it speeds down the highway. not even sure what car company

Hmmm.... maybe I'm out to lunch, as I wasn't paying much attention to the TV at the time and the volume was pretty low. I started watching, hoping to catch it again, but no dice.

Really, I'm not familiar with Gomez music., It sure sounds like Radiohead, from the album after OK computer. somebody ripped somebody off.

give 'em a chance..they are definately not radiohead rip-offs..much more of a blues based band...great stuff!!!

I am familar with the name Gomez, just not there music ( as of yet) I think they have played on the same bill as my Avitar a couple of times. And I have read about them on jambands.com a couple of times too. I will check them out. YOu should check out North Mississippi Allstars if you like blues based music.

love the allstars...if you're looking to get some gomez, start with bring it on, or liquid skin the first 2 albums..

Not that I necessarily want to hear The Hip in a commercial, but I've always thought the begining of "On the Verge" would be a great song for a car commercial.

I've noticed that while watcing CSI on Spike, they do promos for the show, and the music they use while showing them sounds like the opening riff to NOIS. Anyone else notice this? Maybe David Caruso is a Hip fan.
