help with school project needed - hip freak 04 - 02-01-2005

Hey all
i'm a newbie here just looking around the site and it looks awesome!!!! I was wondering if anybody here could give me a place to go (site) or information, in some other form, about the hip for a speech a want to do on them.
note my speech must be done in french but n.p i'm bilingual.

I'd go with the nationalism paradox: Gord hates the divisive nature of nationalism, yet he and the band are a symbol of nationalism for some people.

Their allusion and reference, within their works, to Canadian culture, art, politics and history in general is another cool angle. You can find in their work an awareness of "our stories" that is lacking in mainstream Canadian culture... which would be cool to contrast with the Quebec star system which certainly fete's nous autres. (How's THAT for Franglais)

I'd suggesting searching those subjects here, breezing by Brazel's site, and generally scanning reviews of albums and shows which are always good for content.

Other than that, Bon Chance.

Oh, and "Have Not Been The Same" a book about Can-Rock is a must read if you wanna cover their origins, reasons for being etc.
