Photo's: "Artsy-Fartsy Crap" from 2002/2004 Tours - Stephen Dame - 01-14-2005

C&P'd word for word from the NG cause I'm a lazy bastard:

My dad loves to call any manual shots (Those requiring more than a finger
pushing down a button) "artsy-fartsy crap" and I guess these qualify.

Some I sold, some I didn't, some of them coulda used a mono-pod. but I likes 'em anyway. Some scanned better than others, and there were times when Gord played to my lens.

So here's some artsy-artsy stuff to ridicule. Us pansy photog's will be in
the back playing cribbage and sipping tea with our pinkies out.

P.S. Major thanks to ShannonW for photo bucketing these. dammit that's fun to say. photobucket.

Those are probably the best ever pics I've seen of the hip. Great work.

Thanks folks, always nice to hear that somebody besides my mom likes 'em.

I'm not selling any of them anymore... (And I meant to papers and such of course... I'd never sucker fellow Hip Heads!) but I'll give 'em away if anybody wants 'em. PM me if you're interested. I have a few 9x12's left (Which makes them a bitch to frame... but it doesn't comprise any of the image)

Jenna, For those shots, I used my trusty 1993, Nikon N2000, fully manual, (Bottom of the line really) with a Sigma 70-300 telephoto lens (This cost more than my car) and a whole helluva lot of patience and holding my breath (To steady the image without a Tri-Pod... Thanks Ralph!) The stuff that I bled with colour was a 1/15 exposure, and it helped to be able to sit on the stage... gotta love US club shows. And there's your boring photog talk fer the day.

I've always been partial to the one below since it was taken seconds before Mr. Downie looked down in the direction of our very own Direwolf74 and asked for the lyrics to Pigeon Camera. Nobody could help... so the boys just scrapped the song. Smile

And hey dasauce, I've got a whole pile of shots with your mellon in 'em! It's cool though, adds to the ambiance ya see. Smile Good seeing you guys again in The Hammer... Seriously, we're gunna need an organized Hipbase kegger someplace this summer. Somebody call Johnny, you know he'd be in.

Some good pix there. You didn't have to put up with the usual BS about only shooting during the first three songs, etc.? I've noticed that wording on photo passes for Canadian shows, which kinda dampened my enthusiasm for shooting a Hip concert with a real camera. (That and wanting to concentrate on the music!)

I like your thinking here, a kegger is a cool idea, but the hipbase is so spread out. I think we should start local chapters and we should congregate. Something like the Stonecutter's on the Simpsons, Im willing to head up the London chapter Smile TOGA! TOGA! TOGA!
