The x-files - gratts99 - 12-16-2004

SInce it was brought up in another topic that there are actually other x-file fans on the board i was just wondering what season you thought was the best and why. Also did you spend all the cash to get the whole series or just piece together (or dwnload) your fav's?

I've going back through all the series for the first time since actually watching them 10 years ago and i still think it was one of the best series ever!

Also x-files the movies PART 2 will start filming soon for those who care

I was a faithful viewer when it was on the tube...I grew a big attraction to scully...had the cops call me and all that...well anyway, I think (as with any tv series) the time had run its course. Are mulder and scully in the new movie (wait, I'll google this, nevermind). I have to get the series, so I can relive it, I know my favorites were always the mulder/sister/smokin man storyline...I still haven't pieced it all together!

best show ever, i watched every single episode from about season 6 and on, and then, i missed the last episode because it started at 8 instead of 9, and it wasn't even on global, they had survivor on instead :nooooo ! I WAS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO PISSED, i still haven't seen the last episode Sad, can't wait for the new movie though.



ps: Scully = Boner, i already had a thing for red-heads long before i became a devoted fan, but oh my Gillian Anderson is one sexy lady meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeow Wink!

I have so much time on my hands working security I downloaded every single season. Since September I've made it to episode 6x17. There's no way I could afford to buy them, show season DVDs are so friggin' expensive.

It's hard to pick a favourite season, but some individual episodes are my favourite out of any show. "The Unnatural", with Jesse Martin from Law & Order as the baseball-loving alien, is the best episode in the series. It's got a little of the alien bounty hunter in there fore good measure, but mostly it's a complete deviation from the heavy conspiracy stuff to tell a wonderful story with the best assortment of characters in any episode. From the old confused guy who calls it the Federal Bureau of Obfuscation to the guys singing gospel songs on the team bus, it's a great story featuring the most charming characters anywhere.

I loved X-Files, I miss that show big time. I loved all the seasons but after Mulder left and Dogget took his place the show didnt suck but it took a dip for me, David Duchovny(spl?) made that show. Scully was hot as hell, the episode when she got kidnapped and was tied up on the bed all sweaty, oh momma! :thumb:

Doggett was a letdown for being Mulder's replacement, but for me the show derailed entirely when that dippy agent Moronica Reyes came on. Argh...every bit as much an insult to the franchise as Jar Jar Binks was to Star Wars.

Doggett was awesome, total opposite of Moulder, that's what made it work for me. As for Reyes, she was ok, i'm impartial on her.

i'll will admit i didnt even watch the last season and a half because of mulders absence, i did howver watch the last episode (i mean how can you devote 6.5 years of tv and not watch it??) which tried to explain everything in too little time, just got more confusing.. anyway the new movie will feature both gillian anderson and david duchovny....

That was a fantastic episode! If I remember correctly, David Duchovny wrote and directed that one. He's a huge baseball fan and he wanted to work it into an episode somehow. Great stuff.

I heard that too, but it seems like the new movie has been on the back burner forever. It was originally supposed to start filming in late 2002 for a summer 2003 release, but it keeps getting pushed back. Last I heard, Chris Carter had a finished script and Duchovny and Anderson were both ready to go, but that was almost a year ago. I haven't heard anything since.

The Unnatural rules - (in case you didn't know this - duchovny actually wrote & directed The Unnatural).

Anyway, the best season is hard to guess. Seasons 1-3 were awesome, the MOTW (monster of the week) episodes (the ones that didn't have anything to do with the mythology) in those seasons were always something to look forward to whereas in seasons 6-9 they weren't always so great. Seasons 4&5 were great too, with episodes like Home (when I hear Johnny Mathis' "Wonderful, Wonderful" I still get chills), Post-Modern Prometheus, and all the great mythology episodes like The Red and the Black, The End, Herrenvolk... Season 6 had one of my favs - S.R. 819 - with the return of Krycek. The show made you want to HATE him but I thought he was so cool, probably one of my favourite characters actually.

I'll agree with those that said Monica ruined the show. I couldn't stand her - she overacted the part and it drove me nuts, but I never missed an episode. I actually came to like Doggett by the end of the series but Mulder & Scully made the show. And oh yeah, totally obsessed with Scully, she was a bit rough looking in the first two seasons, but after she fired out that kid she got HOT... remember Milagro (the one about the author that lived next door to Mulder.. season 6, remember?)...

And if it's not obvious already what kind of fan I am I own the entire series on DVD. Yeah, that's right, I'm 22 and spent a little over $1000 over the last 5 years buying them for myself... how could I have had it any other way?

The truth is out there.

Also, I remember reading somewhere a few years ago that CC did not want to do a sequel to the first movie or anything of the sort - he was actually orginally thinking of some sort of sequel. However I think it will end up being a stand-alone episode with some very light mythology thrown in. But talk of the second feature film has been going on for quite some time <crosses fingers>.

I want to believe.

Another great episode that deviated from the conspiracy format was the Halloween one where Mulder and Scully get trapped in a house haunted by Ed Asner and Lily Tomlin, who are trying to make Mulder and Scully kill each other. The endless loop of identical rooms, the bodies under the floor...kinda spooky but so much fun!

How about Confessions of a Cigarette Smoking Man? Where it turns out thast CBG Spender has been involved in every conspiracy of the past 40 years?

Oh! And how could I forget the one where Mulder and Michael McKean, who plays an Area 51 employee, switch places when that experimental craft causes a rip in the time-space continuum? That was a two-parter so without commercials it was almost 90 minutes long, a feature film in itself! An absolute classic. I love McKean, and his acerbic wit (and his attempts to "get with" Scully in Mulder's body) were absolutely hilarious. I laugh out loud every time Mulder in McKean's body wakes up to his shrill wife yelling "Who is Scully?!?! You were talking about a Scully in your sleep!!" and he goes "Honey...does Scully sound like a woman??" and the wife calms down...then the doorbell rings and Scully's standing there, so the wife starts throwing all his stuff out the front door.

The other one with Ed Asner was the Ghosts who stole Christmas IIRC

Triangle was another awesome episode from Season 6 - where Mulder ends up on that ship from the 30s or 40s and Scully & the lone gunmen are on the same ship but it's deserted... however they can switch between the two worlds... it was a good one.

One of my favorites is the one where Mulder and Scully go undercover as a married couple in some sort of gated community. Man, that was funny.
