Be forwarned...it's 64Kbs crap, but you get the general idea; this is definitely going to be a mammoth disc for Bono and the boys... :thumb:

I hope its a better performance than their 2000 appearance when Bono seemed to have boozed and smoked heavily the night before as his voice was so rough.

Maybe A Simpson can give him some tips on making sure his voice sounds perfect during the live performance. Big Grin

Also, for those of you (like me) who don't have an illegal boot of the new album, on u2.com they have all the new songs available to be played streaming in their entirety. The album sounds great!!

I just listened to a couple of the songs from the site and I'm really impressed. They sound a lot more "vital" and back-to-basics than the last album, which seemed like calculated formulaic pop fluff (Elevation? Pfft).

But does anyone else already hate the album title? What a terrible "we're still hip!!!" cry. A matter of weeks since I found out what it was called and it already gets on my nearves. The music speaks for itself, they didn't need to try going with a faux-cool title.

I agree. I think that's what they were going for though Neil. Bono adressed some people somewhere within the last couple weeks, and his quote was basically, "We are just as relevant and cutting edge as ever". In those words. If that's true, you show it in your music. Saying it is just weak.

I think before U2 starts the first song, they should play that Ashlee simpson song and all stand around looking at each other all confused..lol

Well, I just watched the U2 performance on SNL. They played Vertigo - large surprise. Didn't watch to the end to see what else they played. But, on my way home from my girlfriend's, I heard Crumbs From Your Table on the radio. This song sounds awesome!!

They were great. Played 4 songs! Although the 4th was cut out of the regular broadcast due to time constraints...
1) Vertigo
2) Sometimes...

They played four songs? Wow... I've been a fairly religious watcher of SNL when I'm not out drinking away my future, but I can't remember the last time a musical guest played anything more than two songs on that show. Three of the four were on the air? I guess they do deserve more airtime then the MTV-endorsed single of the week flower band...

Back around 1989 after the Freedom album was released, Neil Young played three songs on SNL: Rockin' In The Free World, Needle And The Damage Done, and No More. All three made it into the broadcast.

That's the only other time I know of...anyone know of any others?

i think i remember pearl jam doing three the show was tanking and then the band came out for a third song

Yeah, back in '94 PJ played "Not For You", "Rearviewmirror", and "Daughter" in one show.

Another one that comes to mind is when The Rolling Stones performed "Beast of Burden", "Respectable", and "Shattered" in 1978.
