Hey folks. It's Jeff from the Let's Gather 'Round The Fan compilation. I have a whack of Hip VHS tapes, many of them were used by FearNoArt to do the original mpeg rips you all got back in the day. Would love it if someone was willing to take on the project of transfering them to DVD for all to share. Is there someone on the board who is reputable that is willing to take this on? There's some great stuff that hasn't been shared in a long time...

If you have a digital video camera, you can "capture" them to it, and then it's a breeze to convert to DVD.

I'll gladly take on the challenge, but I have a bit of a backlog right now, and I'm in the process of moving.

I'm also waiting for my new G5 to show up. Once that is in place, I'll be ready to rock and roll...

My XP-MCE PC was built for such a task! Inline coaxial input straight from the cable box to the Hi-Fi VCR to the PC. Final output depends upon the quality of the source VHS.

I'd be glad to take on the task, return the originals, upload torrents, do B&Ps, etc.

I've started working on a similar project, to put an older Hip show onto DVD (& the tracker eventually). I did a test last night, and the video looks good, but not as sharp as the original VHS tape. I'm using the digital 8 camcorder as the middle-man between the VCR & the computer. I think I'm losing video quality between the VCR & the camcorder. Currently it is hooked up using provided cables (red,white,yellow at one end, and the part that goes into the camcorder looks like walkman-headset plugs). The camcorder has an S-Video plug, but does anyone know if VCRs today have an S-Video out, or is S-Video not for transferring analogue (VHS) signals?
