i think some people believe he's a poor man's springsteen...i, on the other had, believe him to be an amazing writer/performer...i have most of his albums, but until recently had forgotten how much i enjoyed his music...his 2 cd greatest hits package just came out, and we were giving away copies at work..so i took one for the car, and song after song after song....brilliant..i'm watching his live show on A&E tonight(repeated i'm sure over the next few days), and the way he's redoing his material and making it sound fresh...wow...if you haven't before, i urge you to give this man the respect he deserves!!

not only that, he's instrumental in Farm-Aid

John Cougar Mellencamp or John Cougar Mellonhead? I can't remember his name. After watching the Heksentel (sp?) video I am confused. haha

I saw that last night too. The live version of Jackie Brown blew me away. I've always loved it, but it hearing it arranged a bit differently really made me sit up and pay attention. I've been a Mellencamp fan for as long as I can remember. My dad adores the man, so perhaps its because of his influence. I'm sad that I missed the beginning of the show. What songs did he play in the first half hour?

i missed the first few songs as well...jackie brown is so beautiful though, ain't it? if you want a great mellencamp cd with redone versions, rough harvest...the jackie brown on there is unreal...also one that always gets me is "key west intermezzo(i saw you first)"...

o dont know...he just never did it for me...but i do like some of his lyrics, not all tho. that little pink houses stuff....not for moi.

I remember buying Mr. Happy-Go-Lucky the day it came out,a dn listening to it all summer and into the fall. Whenever I hear "Key West Intermezzo", I get a little misty. A great song and great memories make for wonderful emotional effect.

It was one of those perfect nights for a concert-by-the-lake, and my three buddies and I were primed for a full night of partying. Mellencamp put on a fantastic show, and the memory of that night still makes me smile.

I never really got into Mellencamp, but Scarecrow is still a killer album.

I like mellencamp, he's got some great songs, I really like Cherry Bomb and Small Town. Im glad to see he put Scarecrow on his lastest hits cd that song rocks baby! :thumb: I just wish he'd put the Cougar back in his name, sounds more cool. 8)
