Locked.... - vicariousmartyr - 11-11-2004

Yeah, Id just like to know why the thread "U.S. Youth: Playing 'Halo 2' as Rome burns?" was locked...I honestly cant find any rationale behind doing that. Why was it locked exactly? A lengthy, interesting deabte was being carried out, no one was being belligerent or un called for in any way. A simple request for backing to a previous statement was made. Dont you think its a bit absurd do be doing something like that?

I dont mean to be rude or disrespectful in any way, but I have to comment. Your getting into risky business when you lock a thread simply because you either cant back up something you said, or just dont feel like it. I realize that moderators hold authority and should well act on something thats inapropriate or un-called for, but this is just absurd. Im just curious as to how you can justify locking that thread. Because it seems to me that that was done in sheer personal interest.

And I dont buy that it was 'way off topic' or 'getting silly'. Just about EVERY SINGLE THREAD in this forum veers off topic, and thats what makes it so interesting. There was nothing innapropriate being discussed. I fail to see anything that warrants a locking of this thread. A request was made to back up a statement. Certain actions/veiwpoints were called into question. Either back it up, express your view point differently to create better understanding, or dont respond.

Im not even partial to either argument, I just honestly dont see how this was done other than out of sheer personal interest.

Sorry, I had to comment.

I felt the same way when i saw that it was locked. I wasn't sure why.

It seems like a rowdy form of censorhip...
we should be encouraged to discuss openly, not close down communication

when IBE leaked i made a thread about it. all i said was that it was out. i didn't say that i had it or where to get it. i thought it was relevant Hip news. that thread was completely deleted

I agree. I wasn't even participating in the discussion but I was really enjoying reading people's posts.

I agree with Vicarious, to the Mod who locked it, why was it locked ?

- jen - 11-11-2004

It is now unlocked...the only reason was because it was getting way off the original topic, no other reason. (It was originally started as a political thread) By all means continue it if you wish :thumb:

By the way, any of you could have sent me a pm asking this very question, especially the original thread starter because it was obviously pointed at me. There were no personal reasons for closing the Halo Thread, it was simply a judgement call of content. Believe it or not, that is what it was.

Okay guys, chill out okay? Show your fellow hipbasers some respect and also show your moderators some respect as well. I find some on here get really pissed off if their topic gets touched and give some kind of attitude. Cry me a friggin' river, build a bridge and get over it. We try to keep the forums running smooth around here. If you don't agree with our decision, private msg us and we can discuss it there.

This topic is now locked.
