The Darkest Canuck - 11-06-2004
so i just watched the last half of much mega hits, and i only saw one shitty video! JUST ONE!
i saw:
U2-Vertigo
Velvet Revolver-Fall To Pieces
The Tea Party-Writings On The Wall
Good Charlotte-i don't know, i didn't watch it
Sum 41-We're All to Blame (?)
Eminem-Just Lose It
K-OS-Crabbucket
way to go MM! there was nothing decent on tv and you came through for me :thumb:

I see 4 also but that's just my opinion. The first three and the last one (which mentions The Hip :thumb: )
I hope I'm not one of the assholes I've been reading about.

i didn't say they were all good, i said that only one of them was "shitty"...
that sum 41 song has grown on me and the video is hilarious
the eminem video is pricelessly funny, especially when MJ loses his nose... get it? "just lose it"? huh huh huh?
The Tea Party video isn't all that great of a video but the song rocks my socks
The VR video isn't anything special but it's a decent tune
Vertigo is a kick ass performance vid and that was the first time i saw it, much better than any of the videos from their last album
and of course K-OS is THE MAN right now, not only is he the greatest thing to happen to Canadian Hip Hop, he is IMO the most innovative artist in the genre in the world today, he brings new meaning to "keepin' it real", with that being said i really need to get my white ass to one of his shows ASAP.

Oh Good Charlotte....please stop 'making' 'music' and go away, for the sake of everything that is good.

Ya gotta laugh though...
Avril is considered by some... ok... "her fog of publicity has implied"... that she's some skater punk.... yet she can't skateboard and in some interview I saw awhile back she didn't even know who the Sex Pistols were... EVERYONE KNOWS WHO THE SEX PISTOLS ARE!!... up until her record-deal Avril was a little preppy choir-girl (some Driven bullshit I watched maybe?) who only got the record-deal because she went to a Shania Twain concert and got the chance to go up and sing with her from some contest or something...
and Ashlee Simpson has 'Punk' written across her shirt in some jealous-of-my-older-sister weakness called a song... (I only know because I was looking at her chest the one and only time I 'watched' the video)... but dyed her hair so she didn't look to much like her sister (who probably gave her the record deal for a birthday present or something)...
and then we have Good Charlotte... angry pop songs by mascara-wearing, dark, brooding, ooh, so 'against-the-grain' sorta guys... which leads me to believe that if a song is 'angry' it's considered 'punk'...
at what point did art become all about the artist? It's all image; fashion-statements and carbon-copies of previous successes. Don't get me wrong, I'm a music-lover. I'll listen to Good Charlotte or Avril or maybe even Ashlee but not because I think they're cool or because I listen to 'punk music' and I am being told that these artists are 'punk'. I can't say that I'd actually spend money to listen to them but some of their songs are actually pretty good (especially when you have a team of 30 people sitting in a room writing them for these 'artists')... I just don't understand why they spend more money on publicity than anything else...
Whew... okay... I'm done now.

I saw K-Os a couple of weeks ago at the U of S bar. Pretty good show. He has a full band with a stand up double bass. He did a couple minutes of free-style at the end about smokin cheeba in Saskatoon.

i think that Bille Joe Armstrong is one of the most underrated front men in the music industry. That guy is silly good.

interesting tidbit:
Green Day are permanently banned from playing here in Sudbury because of all the crazy shit that happened when they played here on the dookie tour. BJ pissed on the crowd and took a shit on stage, and there were people running around stabbing people with needles full of bleach (like on the dookie album cover)...yes, my town is fucked up, does that explain anything about me at all?

Yeah, apparently, at least according to my friends, the K-OS concert series is something fierce. Awesome drummer, good bass and guitar work, a fully live show not like those other hip-hop artists. As for that BJ incident in Sudbury I'm pretty sure he did the same think here it Ottawa at Edgefest '97... for any of you Ottawa K-OS fans, the guys are coming back... they're playing at the 'Gonq next week...
