The NHL - The Nth Degree - 10-21-2004
OK, I know this has probably been discussed in here before, but I'm getting pretty angry at the fact that neither the owners or the players want to talk and settle this CBA issue. I think it is a total slap in the face to any and all fans of the NHL that both of these sides are content with a lockout, rather than sit down and negotiate until there is a compromise. I think that if something isn't worked out soon, the few remaining fans of the NHL should turn their backs on this league the same way that both of these sides have on us. With the baseball playoffs and NFL heating up, there are alternatives to hockey.......I never thought I'd say that.....but I'm tired of this crap.

I'm seriously dying without hockey. It's painful. Baseball playoffs are great and fooball is ok, but it just doesn't compare to the greatest sport ever created by man (sorry baseball fans). I still think the players will be the first ones to break. Once they realize that they can't buy that million dollar mansion or that porche they've had their eye on with the money they're making in Europe, they'll be back at the bargaining table pretty damn quick. $500,000/year in Europe, or $1.3 million in North America. Hmmm...which one would you choose?
Speaking of the players, here's an interesting interview with Flames defenceman Andrew Ference who's never been afraid to speak his mind:

Good on Ference, he's a straight forward player, and apparently a straight forward man. I'm filling the void with Junior (Both the 67's and Olympiques are decent squads this year) Are you taking in any Hitmen games Casey?

I can't call hockey a sport anymore, not at the pro level at least. Cleary it is only a business as we are seeing now.

But I still love the game of hockey, ill never turn my back on it, Ive lived and breathed it since I was a little kid. The only way Id stop watching is if they started using replacement players. It just wouldnt be the same.
