Slim Shady Just Lost It... -

Anybody see this video? The insults were cool back in the Aguilera-Fellatio / "My bum is on your lips" years but I think he just pushed it too close to the ledge. I got a feeling this dude's got about a good 3 months before he's gone. As much as I think Em is awesome at rapping, he just officially gave up his gimmick; Make-Fun-Of-Everybody-Currently-In-The-News-So-People-Will-Think-You're-Cool... Anybody wanna take some stabs at a failing plan? Or maybe defend it to ashes?

Yep, it's cliche alright, but I HIGHLY doubt he's on a countdown to oblivion...nobody ever went broke underestimating the teenage record-buying population.

the fact that people buy any of that mainstream crap is unbelievable to me. There is so much good music out there to be discovered.

What pisses me off about this song is it seems to be nothing more than a marketing ploy. I might be wrong but isn't this just a single, or does he actually have a full disk coming out? If not then it is really quite pathetic, because it is not close to being one of his better songs, and like Kid Rock did with "American Bad Ass" Eminem does the same here, and that is; use a number of lyrics (and refrences) to/from his previous hits. But hey, I'm sure he needed a couple extra mill!

he has a new cd coming out soon

I'm as flabergasted as you are tragicallymike; "the fact that people buy any of that mainstream crap is unbelievable to me". But Eminem definitely has some talent, it just doesn't show in this song. Not all mainstream acts should be disregarded, just the overwhelming majority.

Oh he is talented. I've listened to him ever since the lines;
"So what do you say to somebody you hate?
Or anyone trying to bring trouble your way?
Wanna resolve things in a bloodier way?
Then study a tape of N.W.A"
When I heard that I was hooked. That's genius!
But I think he's hit a new all-time low...
That video? He doesn't have to be doing that so why is he?
One big fat record-selling word; "controversy"...
Maybe I pushed it too far saying he was gonna be gone in 3 months...
I'm just disappointed in him... :?
Leave Wacko Jacko alone!

I dont like the new stuff, but I dont see him disappearing anytime soon. MTV and the rest will lap this video up and any bad press about it will just help sales. That is what MM is all about.

I dont see him going anywhere, people love crap too much, especially in the states. why americans keep buying crap en masse never ceases to amaze me. His new video was funny, but I think his make fun of everyone shtick is growing tiresome. I hate rap anyway! :rambo:

The Darkest Canuck - 10-13-2004
you guys suck, it's obviously not one of his better songs, but it's hilarious, catchy, and the fact that he's making fun of MJ makes it that much better...
I'M GONNA MAKE YOU DANCE HERE'S YOUR CHANCE YEAH BOY SHAKE THAT ASS...OOPS I MEANT GIRL! GIRL GIRL GIRL! YOU KNOW YOU'RE MY WORLD!
NOW JUST LOSE IT UHHHHH UHHHHHHH UHHHHHHH UHHHHHHHHH UHHHHHHHHHHH

Eminem's act grew tired a few years ago. I don't even like mentioning his name because I shouldn't even be thinking of him. I wish more people would ignore him.

This is actually a very interesting phenomenon. What Eminem is doing is making a song FOR a video, not the other way around. This really is an all time low not only for him, but for music in general. I saw the video a few days ago, and I thought to myself 'without this video the song wouldnt make any sense'. It wouldnt.
What he is doing, quite effectively I might add, is making the music video his primary source of publicity or whatever, and the song is merely secondary. Complete reversal of roles. Quite sad, really.
Also, there is a very precise and tired formula to all this. I guarantee you his next single will be a serious, melodramtic, angsty song about how the world has done him wrong. Look at all his previous albums. The first single has always been songs like "The Real Slim Shady" and that "guess who's back" song; all light-hearted and (subjectively) humrous. These are then followed by songs like "Stan" and "The Way I Am" and so on...very angsty, aimlessly angry, etc...Very tired indeed.

OK, I wouldn't really expect Eminem to get a whole lotta love on a TH board, but I'll admit that I really liked his last album and some of his previous stuff. However, having just seen this video last night, I have to say that the song is just horrible. It's not catchy at all, in fact it's downright annoying. I actually have no desire whatsoever to hear this song again (and I do consider myself a fan). That's pretty bad.

I've always found him to be a mysoginistic, homo-phobic, ignorant rhyme master.
Can he rap? Yep. Is he a genius? Well, wherever 2Pac is on the genius ladder, Marshall is eighty four steps below him.

Man, for every other one of Em's albums, I was supporting him 100%. I saw him for the first time 6 years ago at the Opera House in Toronto (about 800 people)'n I've been die-hard ever since.
... however, given that, I can definitely say that this new song is a phat disappointment. He's got a unique rhyming style, he can mix up what he does and add so much originality to a pretty boring hip-hop scene, but then he releases this. All I can say is I hope Kim has a new boyfriend that Em can write a song about (preferably killing) or that somehow the rest of this record is better than single #1.
