Livedownloads 1, Disclive 0 - cferneyh - 10-10-2004
September 10th - read on this forum that a Lowest of the Low show is available for download at Disclive. Head right to the site, find the show, pay for it, and.....nothing. No link to download. Nothing. Well, I shouldn't say nothing. The charge came through on my credit card two days later, but I still couldn't and still can't download the show. Emailed customer support on the 11th and got a generic response on Sept 14th, and haven't heard a thing from them since. :x
October 9th - read on this forum that the July 1st Hip show is available for download at Livedownloads.com (thank GEORGE they didn't choose Disclive). Head right over to the site, find the show, pay for it, and download it immediately. Within an hour I've got the show, I've converted the files to WAV for burning to CD and to MP3 to put on my iPod. :jump
Gee, I wonder which company is going to become the leader in the concert download business.

I had those same problems with disclive for the Lowest of the Low Buffalo show. After a few emails I finally got some response and my problem was solved but what a pain. Then they send me an email apologizing saying they were going through all kinds of management issues. I ordered the thing in August and it shows up in October, after they sais it would show up in September. Also the sound, in my opinion is not really anything to be proud of.
I am going to do the Hip Canada Day show soon. How is the sound quality?
I agree, it is a good thing that they went with livedownloads instead!

The sound quality is outstanding. If you go for the FLAC option, there are some issues with Heaven is a Better Place Today, but if you decode through the errors (with FLAC Frontend) you can still get the wav file - however, you'll here a slight glitch in the track around 1:45. Others have said they've used Cool Edit Pro software to edit out the glitch.
Anyway, I HIGHLY recommend the show. And as for Disclive, I hope they enjoyed my $25, because it is the last $25 they'll ever see from me.

The show is amazing and the sound is awesome. Get it! There's more shows to come too.

I hear ya. I ordered the Low disc way back on Sept. 9th and it still hasn't arrived. I've sent them two e-mails over the past couple of weeks and I have yet to hear anything back.

$25 for a single show?! Holy crap...I know it's not a massive commercial band, but that's still excessive. It shames me that I paid $29.99 for my first ever Hip show, years before I knew about trading circles, and I wouldn't do it again!

Look at it this way, Neil. Buying from the band is much better than supporting a sleazy merchant who probably doesn't bother attending the shows, they just profit off of the shows and you are supporting the band financially. and if i remember correctly, the profits gained from selling the show are split between the band and the company producing it, not the record company.

Yeah, that's the other thing - to "download" the show was $15. To get them to burn you a CD and ship it to you was $25. I chose the download option, but they still charged me $25. They've really got it together over there.

A $10 handling fee on a $15 item...I'll bet Ticketmaster is green with envy!
