really though, it's a song that was cut from IBE they've played it a couple times in Whistler last year but for the most part no one has heard it.

I actually talked to Bobby about it on Sunday night in Cleveland. He said the Hip recorded 16 songs for IBE, but needed to cut 3. They couldn't agree on which song to cut, so their producer decided for them. They accepted the cuts 'n left it at that. Then Bobby said a couple weeks later they clued in that the producer and his team being American, the recording session happening in Seattle and the 3 songs being cut being the most anti-war songs from the album was too much of a coincidence... but it was too late to change.
So, to make things short... Fighter Fighter is one of the songs that got cut from IBE. It's a pretty up tempo song 'n really rocked when I heard it. Bobby said they're still thinking about whether to release it as an mp3 on the website or to put it on an EP or to throw it on to their next album (a greatest hits).

The band is seriously thinking about releasing an EP!? That would be awesome!!
I heard there's a bootleg of the Whistler show out there but the taper is sitting on it...anybody feel like pulling a B&E? :mrgreen:

Yeah they're seriously thinking about releasing an EP just like they said they are thinking about having shows available for purchase.
Meant to sound funny, probably sounds bitchy, but I'm still a little bitter about the whole lack of anything post-release.

Haven't heard of seen anything on the Whistler Boots but if you are looking for Fighter Fighter, there were a couple of people that were still allowed to tape the audio of the show from Cleveland where they played it. Maybe that show will surface?

I dont know why they havent done the post show releases...... Pearl Jam has been quite successful with that. I always rather hearing "live" versions of tunes..

I'd go with 'Extended Play' which would seem to mean longer than a single (one single song released independently of an album) and shorter than a full LP (or Long Play) album. Bands usually release EP's when they have too many tracks from an album but don't have enough for a second album. Sometimes songs are released on singles as bonuses but EP's usually have about 4 or 5 songs (in my experience).

Exactly...plus, many bands release an EP first, just like our very own Hip did back in '87...just testing the waters with a seven sogn, 26 minute half-album. Sometimes the best gems come from an EP because they usually represent a cluster of songs all written together in a particular place or time.

I have a good feeling that some of these songs will come out in one way or another. An EP would be great as compared to mp3's in my opinion!

Definitely! Anything's better than nothing, but I hate knowing that there's a flawless version of something out there, when I'm stuck with a lossy mp3.
