so, did anyone see any sign of live recordings available after the show...
wasnt there some discussion of the band making them available?

Ya know, I was thinking about that this morning and kicking my self for not posting earlier; I knew people would want to know. There was nothing, nada, zilch.
The '04 tour merchandise, however is pretty cool; they had the standard black tour tee, a long-sleeve black tee, a cool heather-grey tee with a left-chest & back print touting "Tragically Hip's All Canadian Surf Club", a white tour tee with a Caribou (I think) and an eyball (no dates on back) a ladies' tee, a ladies' "spaghetti strap" shirt, two styles/colors of caps, wristbands (?), and IBE hockey jerseys. Of course, everything was embelished with IBE graphics.
Still, it really sucks that there were no show CDs or "download passes" for sale.

I spoke with Gord D. about this very subject last night in Cleveland. He said the Canada Day Molson Amp show would be released soon, but there are no other plans to record other shows and release them.
One other sad note. I also asked if there were plans to release a DVD. Gord said the guys have been kicking that idea around, but there are no plans. I was left with the impression it may not happen.

Maybe they saw Chris's Wasaga Beach DVD and realize it's futile to try to compete with such artistry.
Seriously, a professional DVD would be cool as hell but if that was in the works, fan taping and filming would almost have to be forbidden to ensure marketability. Personally, I prefer the variety of audio and visual gems we get somewhat regularly and would hate to sacrifice those opportunities in favor of a "professionally" produced DVD. Whether it's The Hip or some other artist, how often do we see a performance where the director has no idea what the music's about and they cut to a shot of the singer or bass player during a shredding lead? I'll always prefer fan-shot footage over a pro's any day!
