They've been mentioned before in little blurbs. I won't get excited till they get a full blown article that isn't stupidly written. We've had threads about Rolling Stone in here and the general consensus in that they suck, they aren't the music Bible like they once were and they wouldn't know talent if it bit them in the ass. Also there was some kind of weird rivalry going on with the hip and some editor or something. I can't remember the story. I'm sure someone else could tell you.

And as for the Hip?

Brazle is right on with his assesment; Sam is getting more favorable press than the Hip are at the moment;Entertainment Weekly did a lavish review of the US release of Born in a Flame in their latest edition. The Hip got nada mention there.

I was going to post that and totally forgot due to my excitement about the Hip ad in our school paper. The EW write-up is pretty sweet. I was baffled that they didn't at least mention that he is touring with the Hip. Stupid mass media.

i didnt think they would; EW generally only writes about hot new bands and buzzworthy celebrities that occupy the conventional and commercial wisdom (if that isnt an oxymoron i dont know what is). If I remember correctly, they pretty much passed over Neil Young's Greendale (wrote a little blurb how great it is an old fart like Neil can still make great music, to condense their view).

No crappy American sitcoms, no celebrity magazines, no Entertainment Tonight, no Rolling Stone, no MuchMusic (except when the Hip are on)... I think The Simpsons are the only pop culture staple I appreciate.
