I side with the players.

And for the record this bodes WAY better for the Senators than the Leafs. The Leafs will be 100 by the time hockey starts again. And Dominik Hasek will have departed, and Prusek will have matured into a star in his own right with Kelly Guard backing him up. Things look very good indeed for the Sens whenever hockey does get underway!

As long as the new CBA guarantees the Sens don't have to play the Leafs in the playoffs, the Sens will kick ass! :lol:

I am owners side, ticket prices are out of control. The small market teams can not survive with the current contract.

I voted owners only because there was not a choice for 'neither.'

Both sides are money grubbing bastards.

Owners - no one put a gun to their heads when they started paying truckloads of cash for 3rd line wingers in their mid-30s.

Players - They act like they are entitled to the money. Why should 3rd line wingers in their mid-30s deserve the money if they don't produce? Let 'em go pump gas in Kamloops for a winter and see how it feels to be a 'regular' person.

Of course, if the owners said 'ok, no cap' and then decided individually (not collectively) to put 50% of revenues toward salaries, the players would play the collusion card.

Another point, the players say only a handful of teams lose big money and the rest either break even or make big money. Ok, so how about they fold the six or eight biggest loser franchises. The players wouldn't go for that because it 'takes jobs away.' You can't have it both ways. Well, you could if the owners would just raise ticket prices to $150 per game. :roll:

Oh well, what can you do. It was inevitable for a long time coming. Truthfully, I'd much rather watch an NCAA D1 or D3 game. Players play tough, 110% hockey. The crowds are intense. Every game is like a playoff game (because there is only 1/4 as many games). Most games cost between 5-20 bucks. How can you go wrong!! I know the product is not nearly as quality but the overall experience is far better. At least from a Buffalonian's point of view.

I would go to an NCAA game over a Sabres game any day of the week. I know it is different north of the border, but down here it is all we've got!

As anybody who's read the hockey thread knows, I have been siding with the OWNERS since day 1...not the players as I said above. Just to be clear I do NOT agree with greedy players who think their league compares to the NFL and NBA.

If the owners get their way, it doesn't mean that the ticket prices will go down.

Roenick is a self-promoting wanker. He doesn't get it. Go to 10 teams and 500 players will be playing in an inferior league for far less money. The middle-of-the-road lunch-bucket type player is probably gonna get the shaft. Of course, this shaft will still be worth far more than what most of us earn.

The other week Roenick was saying that there should be a cap "per player", and a team should be able to sign however many high priced players they want. The best part of his quote was that he suggested that the "per player" cap should be $7 million. Guess how much Roenick makes? $7 million! So in Roenick's world, no player should make more than he does. What a clown.

That is correct, the players think they are in the same league financially as the NFL and NBA when in fact they may be closer to Arena football, but I bet arena foot ball does better financially.
