DVD-Burners - Tthip - 09-09-2004

I am looking into buying a DVD burner. I am wondering what the real differences are.
I see models that look identical with the +-, RW, 8X but the cost varies from $50 to $200 - for what looks like the exact same thing - even the software that comes with it is the same.
Any one want to give me a little tutorial - especially with the +-.
Also, the best software.

DVD- is mostly for video, DVD+ is for data, as some home DVD players won't play this format.

I have a plextor 12x that with a few different programs has copied everything I've asked it to.
