States Shows: How fast do they usually sell out? - m2clarke - 08-18-2004

I am a poor student unable to buy tickets in the next couple of days so I was wondering if it is likely that there will be Cleveland/Albany/Washington/Philadelphia/Detroit tickets left early next week.

Just hoping some of you veterans could give us rookies the inside scoop on small shows south of the border.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Hoping to go to the Cleveland show.

Seeing how Cleveland is relatively close to the U.S./Canadian border(5 hours from Toronto), I would say better get your tickets quick. How many does the Odeon seat? Have they sold out in Cleveland regularly?

It depends on the city. When I saw them in San Francisco it didn't even come close to selling out. Same with Spokane. The eastern U.S. shows tend to sell out much quicker due to the high volume of Canucks driving down from Ontario. When I saw them in Boston in '02, all three shows at the Somerville Theatre were completely sold out, save for a few standing room only tickets that were made available just before showtime.

the web site for the venue in atlanta says its an 1100 seat club----im not sure about the 930 club -in dc----probably a mid size type place//in 1998 in winston salem the place was packed, but like *everybody* was down from canada..it's just hard to say anything definative..so many variables--but i would certainly expect less folks in atlanta unless the buzz gets on the street ---it's a tuesday night----nothing else to do--etc. and some local a$$holes who've never heard of the band show up just to drink beer..

I take offense of this! - not really I have seen the hip 2X in Atlanta since moving here and both were at the CC Roxy. Both shows were pretty full but most likely not sold out. Atlanta is a transplant communtiy so it will be hard to gauge to see if it will sell well being a tuesday night.

Gord's solo show was very intimate and far from sold out but no drunken fools (other than myself)

For the past two Philadelphia shows (M@W/IVL) a good amount of people were there but they both did not sell out, but there was a bigger crowd for IVL then there was for M@W. The IVL show in D.C. didn't sell out either. Hope you can get your tix soon though, you never can tell...!

The syracuse show hasn't sold out in the last 6 years.... I have a feeling that many will this year, since they're playing half the shows.

The Odeon is G.A., no seats. 2 years ago my friends had 2 extra tickets that they were trying to sell outside before the concert started...noone bought them..makes me think that it wasn't sold out. In fact, most people from the Cleveland area that we talked to hadn't even heard of the HIP. Not even in the bars close to the venue. I am not sure that they are that popular there, even if they are relatively close to the border.

I can tell you that the Philly and DC shows probably wont sell out and if they did it would probably be the day of the show. The secret to the philly and DC shows will be to get there early and stand at the front from the begining. I did this for the last philly show and had front center...even got the setlist afterwards....

we plan to be in line about an hour before the doors open...we figure that'll be a good time line. I just want to stand up front for as long as it's tame...if it gets nasty, i'm moving back a bit...

At the 9:30 Club, last time I was there a few summer's ago, it got wild at the Econoline Crush concert. There weren't many people there...but the ones that were thought it was a heavy metal concert and started moshing and freaking out. Okay sure, EC had some heavy sounding songs...but sheesh...

Last time in Cleveland IVL they played two nights at the Odeon and the second show sold out (Friday Night). There is very little fan base here in Cleveland....very little. I am actually quite suprise they still come here.
But glad they do. I have been following them for years and still have not met or talked to another fan in my own city.

I got my ATLANTA tix!!! LOL...

I am literally dragging two of my buds kicking and screaming - but I know they'll have fun.

Last show in Atlanta was soooo great. I love seeing them here because I know that I would NEVER get so close to the band up North.

however, I'm hoping it's added, it was on the tenative list that was posted here in the forum a while ago.
