a magical night in salmon arm as blue rodeo played the roots and blues fest..what a great, under-appreciated band..Diamond Mine sounded so freakin' good, especially the Doors like middle section..and how many beautiful songs do they have? one word..WOW "strange and beautiful are the stars tonight"...opens up Lost Together, and it was spine chilling last night when sang, because the stars were strange and beautiful...just wanted to mention what a fantasic night i had..tears were shed, yes i admit it...it was that damn good....

Man oh man am I out of luck. I was KICKING myself for not being able to see them. I left Calgary for BC just before they arrived in town, and I didn't get home to Nova Scotia in time to see them in Cape Breton. ARGH!! I haven't seen a show all summer. Saw lots of amazing sights and I don't regret my trip, but I really hate the fact that I didn't get to see the Hip OR Blue Rodeo.

Speaking of Blue Rodeo, I was listening to "Nowhere to Here" in my car today. That album is a freakin' masterpiece.

That's the album that got me hooked nearly 10 years ago...that and Tremolo passed with nary a whisper in the collective consciousness of the music "scene"...their early jangly hits and their recent "mature" weepy ballads (IE sad nights, bulletproof) are all anybody remembers. Nowhere To Here and Tremolo, I can only hope, will have a renaissance someday in the future long after the band is gone and people realize what simple fools they were for overlooking it all...
