just wondering peoples thoughts on this...i'm much more of a zeppelin fan, and we were having this discussion at work, so i'm also doing an on-air poll to see what my listeners think

I voted Stones. I haven't heard much by Led Zeppelin, well, I've heard more by The Stones than them... Everybody could name a Rolling Stones song.... I'm betting they'll win.

True true. I should've thought about that before I said it. What I meant is it just seems that The Stones got more media-attention, especially nowadays...

I luv both bandz, I have a hard time articulating the impact Led Zeppelin has had on my life, they'll alwayz be 1 of my fav'z. And within the last 2 yearz i guess I've been really turned on by the Stonez, especially the old stuff, 68-73 ish, Let it Bleed, Beggar'z Banquet, & prawly the best album ever,IMO- Exile on Main Street. Hard to say for me really~~~~

Over time, the Stones have become a tight, polished rock act. Their current live shows benefit from their long standing friendships and familiarity... kinda like another band I know.
Plus, they paved the way for folks like Jimmy and Robert.
I voted Stones.

i don't think that's true at all...the yardbirds paved the way for zeppeling..page was doing tons of work even while the stones were just gettin started..that's page's guitar work you hear on the kink's "you really got me" plus another kinks hit)can't remember it now); and joe cocker's "little help with my friends"...

I don't mean literally influenced them. I mean that in a much broader sense they extended the "Invasion" beyond mop tops in '64 and made it very clear that this movement wasn't a fad. Zep's success in the 70's was surely based in merit, but was eased, as was the success of a lot of British bands, by The Stones providing a little rock and roll substance to the very poppy (At the time...) Fab Four and friends.

Alot people will say that Stairway to Heaven is the greatest song ever written but I'd say Sympathy For The Devil is write up there if not better Lyrically and whats that word the describez the sound of it, anwayz that'z better as well IMO, I actually like The Rain Song better than Stairway, I think i've heard it too much....
