Most underrated songs - The Nth Degree - 07-27-2004

I was reading the replies to my other post and someone mentioned that Yawning or Snarling is one of their most underrated songs, I agree. Here's what I think are some others:

Escape is at Hand- one of their most beautiful songs and arguably, their best
Membership-great song with powerful lyrics and guitar work
Toronto#4-one of their most serene and melodic songs I've heard
Are we Family?-one of the reasons their new album is so good
Yawning or Snarling-awesome song and great lyrics
I could go on.............

It's hard to say that anything off Fully is truly underrated, but I think sometimes Pigeon Camera gets lost in the shuffle.
Others that come to mind:
An Inch an Hour, Impossibilium, All Tore Up, Dire Wolf, those stand out for me

i think its a bit too early to comment on whats underrated off IBE.

Trickle Down. My favorite song off UTH when I first heard it, back in the Pleistocene.

I think So Hard Done By is brilliant, and deserves more love than it gets.

I'm glad everyone agrees with Yawning... I didn't think it got that much respect (but I should've known better given the type of fans here!). According to the Hipbase song stats, it's only been played 34 times, so probably pretty much only during the DFN tour.

I agree The Dire Wolf should is underrated, but I feel like Long Time Running is probably their most popular song off of Road Apples (especially by non-Hip fans), so I'm not saying it's not a good song, but I think it gets plenty of recognition.

I'd also like to add Greasy Jungle to this list. I know it gets played at shows sometimes, but I think it should be a stape Hip song or at least part of an every-second-show rotation.

i dunno, i'd have to say little bones, twist my arm, cordelia, and three pistols are all far more popular than long time running is.

Maybe Little Bones, but I barely ever hear the other on the radio and I think Little Bones and Long Time get played the most live.

Incredible mood and texture in that cut.....one of my TATHH faves, for sure.

I think Thugs and Titanic Terrarium off DFN are often overlooked, too.

i've never heard long time on the radio, not even once, never heard it live either, the only ones i've heard live from road apples are: Little Bones, Cordelia, and Last Of The Unplucked Gems.

I was going to make some remark about how the search button was your friend as there are other threads just like this on here somewhere. But in my attempt to use the search function I came up with a total of 645 threads when I searched for underated songs. Not all that useful.

Ah well, As I'm sure I've stated in one or two of these threads already, Put it Off is THE most underrated hip song.

I remember them closing a set list in Montreal years ago with 'Yawning,' so obviously the BAND doesn't underrate it.

Titanic Terrarium! A major statement, completely overlooked. As are 'The Dark Canuck' and 'So Hard Done By.' Let's not forget 'Fiddler's Green' and...what about 'Beautiful Thing?' :mrgreen:
