tragicallymike - 07-25-2004
ok folks heres the deal. I got a chance to go backstage at darien. I chatted with Rob Baker and heres what i got:
1. Hip will tour the U.S starting in late september
2. Tour should last for about 6 weeks.
3. mentioned coming to Rochester,NY
4. The Band hates Rounder Records...they didnt do any publicity for this album and they didnt even get the album out to radio stations. Possible legal action may come.
Rob handed me off to a promoter guy who gave me his business card and wednesday im gonna call him and he's gonna give me a tentative schedule of dates.

See, I tried to get my friends (who were also backstage) to find out the dirt as well, but they were too enamoured by Mr. Fay to ask anyone else anything. Figures!

Nice job! I was hoping for a US tour sooner, but perhaps they want to spend the summer with their families back at home...

Wow. I figured Rounder would've been the perfect fit for them since fellow canucks Sarah Harmer, Cowboy Junkies, and Kathleen Edwards are on the label. It seems like every time they sign to a label down there, they end up getting screwed. It's too bad, because the new album is excellent.

So Mike, I gotta ask, when you got back there...How tall were the mountains of cocaine and How many dead strippers were there?
And was the bowl of yellow peanut M&M's in plain sight?

That's great. very interesting about Rounder. When you call, is there any chance you could ask if Europe dates are planned, as well? That would be great.
Thanks

well it was quite dissapointing because johnny was talking to those 2 friends of Kari's and i guess he had no time for banging and subsequently killing strippers. the mountain of cocaine was over my head and im about 6'2'. No M&M's in sight but there were some resees piecees.

Hehehehe...very funny, indeed!
I had to laugh when he (Johnny) made it a HUGE point to let my friends know that he's single, and doesn't want to be married because he's on the road so much. And later in the conversation again, he stressed that he's single and available. Too bad my friends had no interest in him. They even turned down his invite to join the rest of the band for drinks.
Shot down...is that a first for Johnny??

Shot down? Is it really considered "shot down" when you merely tell someone you are single? I mean it would be one thing if he asked your friend(s) to head back to the tour bus with him, but it doesn't sound like it went down like that......
