Does preshow crap count the Anthems?
Because aren't :05 times ususally first pitch?

- cferneyh - 07-13-2004

:05 usually, but they don't introduce every single player, coach, and trainer at a typical game like they will tonight.....

I heard game starts at 7:20pm in Houston on the news this morning so you'd better tune in before then just in case.

- Andre Cardinal - 07-13-2004

Houston is one hour time difference, so 8:20 eastern sounds about right.

- BuffaloHipFan - 07-13-2004

Did anyone see the home run derby last night. It was pretty cool. A new record was set (15 HR's) and I don't even follow baseball.

What do you think is going through Gord's head at the moment? Geez, the huge American audience as he's never experienced before, American Idol singers right after him, and Muhammed Ali throwing out the first pitch. If there's any time to shake, it's now.

Not sure if this has been posted yet, or if it will work...

"Her appearance highlights the procession of famed performers. Gord Downie, frontman for longtime Canadian rockers The Tragically Hip, will sing the Canadian National Anthem."

"famed", eh?...wow...that could be the single nicest national endorsement the band has ever received south of the 49th!

can anyone record the anthem- I have to work and will most likely miss it. This is greatly appreciated.

- Andre Cardinal - 07-13-2004

Does anyone find it odd that Gord was asked to perform in George Bush's home state? Bush senior will be there. I mean, IBE has many anti-Bush messages in it. Gord singing an anthem, and it Texas? I still can't get over this. He even landed at George Bush International in Houston. What the hell?

Perhaps he'll pull a Michael Moore Oscar moment. I can see Gord stepping up to the mic, "Here's comes a country are you in or you out?"

All star Anthem - TTH04 - 07-13-2004

As usual, the US coverage did not air The Canadian Anthem. This happens often on hockey telecasts as well for some reason.

Did anybody get to actually witness this performance?

Our VP from work is there. I can ask him how he sang when he gets back on Thursday. That is if he was even paying attention Cry
