Question: Favourite Bootleg Tracks? - MountainHip - 09-19-2002

what are your favourite 3 tracks?

1. Grace, too July 21st 1998 Wetlands, NYC.
2. 3 PistolsJuly 26th 1993 Lansdowne Park, Ottawa.
3. Ahead by a CenturyJuly 21st 1998 Wetlands, NYC.

not much variety in mine I only have about 15 boots, and Wetlands is my favourite by far.

cheers!

Surprised this topic hadn't come up sooner...Anyways here's my thoughts:

Going with just 5 (which is next to impossible):

1. Highway Girl ("Porter Girl")- 3/8/91 Tucson, AZ

2. Grace, Too ("of course we came here to study you, of course it's us who gains the most, right? Whooo!!") - 7/24/99 Woodstock 99

3. New Orleans Is Sinking ("This Flight Tonight") - 4/9/91 Hamburg, Germany

4. The Dark Canuck ("Great New IVL Song, really rocked at this show") - 7/20/02 Minneapolis, MN

5. Fire In The Hole ("Burning Church") - 7/24/99 Woodstock 99

Is this the "save Tom Hanks" Grace Too?

Do you have a copy of that show in MP3 format? I was at that show along w/2 other shows of the 4-night-stand at the now defunct Wetlands. Simply the BEST shows I've attended.

I have a well-used tape of the show from Rory, but I can't record it to a sound file. It winds up sounding horrible.

Favorite boot songs is definitely Meridian from Wetlands (7/24/1998? or 7/21): "Lofty Pines" version

Fave... - mats - 09-20-2002

I must say that ONE of my absolute favorites is:

Jun 6 97 - Concert Hall T.O. - "Hundredth Meridian" with Poets, Chagrin Falls and Blond Solid sung during. This version of Chagrin I thought would have been the way they should have recorded it on P.P.
Just an awesome groove.

Bry AKA Mats.

i would have to say any version of stero/escape.... i love how the song progressed throughout the live boots into the pp version

I would say that most of the Woodstock Material ( Especially Grace Too and Fire in the Hole ) is awesome. The Lansdown park show in Ottawa, on ARA '93 is pretty good too. Besides that, I liked the NOIS - West Wind - Dirty ABAC on the Pink Pop Fest. And Hundredth Meridian on that BootlegTV video from London, where he starts reciting 'Insomniacs of the World, Goodnight'.

I know I'm dredging up an old thread here, but

NOIS - High Sierra is my all time favorite - lots of gems in there.

"You gotta get to know your cage, stress points, corrosive age. The keeper's hours throughout the day, his habits, weaknesses and ways"

"If you're freaked I'm f@#%d, I love you that much. If you'r freaked I'm f@#%#d, I know it don't sound like much."

"First thing we'll climb a tree, and maybe then we'll talk. I will touch your hair, you can touch my socks (say it out loud, funny). Then we'll be married, then we'll be standing right, no dress rehearsal, this is our life"

"You're in the woods and its nighttime and you see something. Its moving fast, and you realize either its out of place or your out of place. And then you realize its a grizzly bear, and in the seconds before he rips you apart you get a sense of awareness! Woooo! The fear, its all good! Get up your weakling, get up."

One of my all time favourites is Flamenco from Ottawa, Dec/6/00.

Kate and Gord tore the house down with that one and the crowd just ate it up. It was unbelievably great live, and the bootleg does it some decent justice.

I think its from 1998 in Toledo, Ohio during flamingo Gord, goes into a rant against some drunk who threw a bottle on stage. Just insults the guy by saying "first time I drank a bottle of rye, I wanted to throw it to." Or something like that. Then he said he wasnt going to move and stand stationary in protest so the guy could try and hit him again.

At what show did they do "Nautical Disaster" with a NOIS intro and outro?
At the start Gord says "No Canadian band, no Canadian musician would be complete without a song about a nautical disaster.. this song is called Nautical Disaster".
It's one of my favs!
