Listening to the album premiere interview, and Rob Baker said that quite a few songs were recorded live off the floor, with no overdubs. The only specific song mentioned is Gus... completely live off the floor!!

I think they mentioned that Makeshift was too and I am assuming that Nashville was live off the floor as you can hear some feedback at approximately 1:43.

Yep, that... and Gord's "Ugh!" at 1:26, and Johnny's sticks clashing at the end.

I think every album should be recorded this way. Hey, if it worked for Elvis and Muddy Waters...

I think this is why they sound so great in concert, just like the real thing, wait it is the real thing...I agree, all bands should record like this, unfortunatley some of them would probably sound like garbage if they actually did. Cheers to the Hip for a job well done!!

well during the mod club show paul answered a question as to what was the biggest rumor about them is that they record live of the floor

so take it as that i don't think they do

I think that statement was meant to be tongue in cheek. During the album premiere interviews, they clearly state that several of the songs on the album were recorded live off the floor. The band was playing live off the floor, while Gord was in an isolation booth singing, but with a big window facing the band so he could see them.
