At the ModClub someone asked if the boys were planning on releasing recording of their shows (a la Pearl Jam). I noticed the LiveWire trucks outside the two shows I have been to so far, here is what I have dug up from <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.livewireremote.com/">http://www.livewireremote.com/</a><!-- m --> :

Canadian icons The Tragically Hip hired the LiveWire mobile to record two nights at Toronto’s Mod Club Theatre, as well as their sold out Canada Day concert at the Molson Amphitheatre. The second night at the Mod Club was broadcast live nationwide on twenty fm stations by the Blue Sky Radio Network. It will also air later in July on Bell Sympatico’s netcast service. The shows served as a release party for the band’s new album, “In Between Evolution”.



Perhaps this will be the medium through which they release these shows???

I really hope they do release all their shows, but did pearl jam ever release them through internet download like gord did on his solo act last year?? I just remember pearl jam wanting $20 a show. If the hip charge that much i'm going to have to get a second job!

Pearl Jam sent out an actual cd but they sent a link to a site where you could download the tracks from the show in a low quality mp3 the day after the show to tide you over till the disc arrived.

The first time Pearl Jam did it, after their 2000 world tour, they offered a presale to TenClub members before releasing them to retail. For the 2003 tour, only a select few shows (six altogether, I believe) were officially released; the rest were available through the band's website, and for $12 U.S. (as far as I can remember) you got a link to an unmastered, 96 bit on line copy the day after the show and would receive the actual CD within a week or so. I own a stupendous number of these boots, and the sound quality is incredible; I'd love to see the Hip take this and run with it.

This service is similar to what the Pixies have done in their reunion tour....using a mobile recording service to document the show. A limited number were then sold to the attendies after the concert.

I think this would be a good idea for the Hip.

someday soon all bands {that aren't afraid of there performance} will be doing this. next up a DVD of the show. that would be the ultimate in show mementos. hers hoping the hip are first in line to offer this.
