2nd Mod Show / Hip In Texas / Gord 'O Canada' -
TLB - 06-23-2004
2nd Mod club show June 28. No idea about tickets.
Hip in Houston, TX at the Minute Maid Park, July 12.
Gord mentioned last night that he'll be singing 'O Canada' at this year's Baseball All-Star Game.

Tony,
Are you serious???

Were you really high last night Tony? Was Gord? I can't even imagine what that anthem would sound like.

Gord doesn't seem like the ideal candidate to sing the anthem but then again the show at Minute Maid Park conicides with the all star game the next day.
Will he be singing both American and Canadian anthems?

I saw the Montreal Expos play at Dodger Stadium earlier this year, and they had two different girls since each anthem. I doubt Gord knows the words to the American National Anthem. All I know of Canada's is the "O' Canada..." begining.
I doubt the Hip are actually playing at Minute Maid Park, its MLB's All Star Week and there are baseball related events going on the whole weekend leading up to the game. I doubt they would bust out a concert stage in the middle of the park the day before the game. The # of logos and advertisements painted on the field is ridiculous for these games.
My guess is that Gord is going to sing O'Canada before the actual game on Tuesday. I know the Hip play Dallas, Austin, and Houston when in Texas...but the last time they played in Houston I believe it was at a bar w/ less than 1,000 people.
I know the lead singer of Widespread Panic sang the US Anthem at SBC Park in San Fran last year.

Yeah me either, I could not see Gord singing O Canada at all.
They play Wasaga too on the 11th. Kindof a trek to Texas to be there for the 12th no?

if only there was a way to travel at speeds of up to 400 mph while sitting in the luxury of a first class seat.

A) I'm sure Gord knows the words to both anthems. Most hockey fans can sing along to the Star Spangled banner just as easily as O Canada. But Gord's voice doesn't seem like it would lend itself to belting out an anthem, acapella.
B) Angie, not much equipment, I mean, no equipment is needed to sing a National Anthem. Just Gord and a mic stand. Travel is not an issue.

Here is link to the 2003 All-Star Game musical announcements. I guess there is a very good possibility that we will get both: 1) the 'Anthems' and 2) a two song set from the Hip?
