wow 8 dollars and they are not even that good.

- beanmedic - 06-18-2004

They are really good. I'm not sure where you get that from. Maybe you have never seen them play.

By the way, the bar sets the cover charge. The band has nothing to do with it. They don't even get a cut of the money. The band has a set price regardless of whether four people or 4 million people show up.

- nhaste - 06-18-2004

Yea I saw them once before and they really impressed me. Obviously not as good as the real thing, but they play songs that The Hip rarely or never play anymore, and sound pretty good too. Will certainly be a good warmup for the 3 Hip shows I'm attending in the next 3 weeks!

Well worth $8 anyway.

i certainly have seen em. Knock off the GD impersonations and just sing the damn songs.

Yeah... here's what rubbed me the wrong way about these guys: If you're going to play "Hip Halloween" every night of the friggin' week, at least get the small stuff right. He intro'd "Fully and Completley" and also made reference to the album "Live and Between Us."

Petty, I know... but if you're gunna do it, do it.

you MUST be talking about a different band. there is no way he would say fully and completely, unless he did it just for fun. he certainly knows the difference - believe me. he is a huge hip fan and he knows the difference.

Oh and you know those european tour bootlegs from 2002 (paradiso, etc.)? He recorded them. Trust me, he knows there is no "and" in Fully Completely.

Nope, same band.

So, how were they?

Pardon my (possibly rude) opinion but cover-bands by definition are inferior... the whole point of creation and justification is blown out of the water. I've covered one or two Hip songs in my time and I may even name a future band after something Gord said.... but cover-bands suck...

- beanmedic - 06-19-2004

Well with this band, they are not pretending they are the hip. They just play hip music.

- BuffaloHipFan - 06-19-2004

Strictly Hip in Buffalo is not bad, they play almost nightly, with no cover charge.

i beg to differ. WWW.practicallyhip.com check under videos .......then tell me that hes not mimicking gord's every move.

- Summiteer - 06-19-2004

Do they cover Fiddler'z Green?

I agree. If we wanted water, we'd ask for water.

I strongly disagree. Hence the "Hip Halloween" comment.
