Hey guys.
I heard somewhere that the boys are gonna start posting their shows for download. HI-FI and LOW-FI formats, artwork, the whole deal.....
Can anyone confirm??

What's your source? A lot of people on here have got their ears to the ground for stampedes... I unfortunately don't....
I prefer to think of myself as the Neelix of this mighty starship.... just along for the ride really, no real qualifications except "kitchen-rat" and, at times, highly annoying... I figured maybe a Janeway or a Tuvok would be privy to this info...
But I can whip up a mean batch of Vulcan Plomeek soup...

It would make sense, after GD did it with his solo tour. It was great, cos the shows were offered in Canadian dollars...

Hey ddd444,
you seem to have quite a number of interesting tidbits. I wonder where you heard all these from.
Live downloads would be something that should be included in what i was talking about in my other post, in reply to you, kinda like Gord's solo tour last summer, also bootlegs on demand like the recent Pixies warmup shows would be cool too, nothing better than walking out of show and picking up the live CD of it.

that's cool, i'm out in Van myself and one of their mgmt team is the DJ at Canucks hockey games, got to hear some VS back before i even knew what it was. the DJ spun it a few times at some games a i was at, although i didn't realize until after.

How much do you think they will charge for downloading the live shows (if they do it)? How much were GD solo shows to download?

The Barenaked Ladies did the same thing for thier last tour. I paid $20 for a copy of the show I went to, which turned out to be about $15 more than they should have charged. If they Hip do it, I hope they do a better job than BNL did.

I bought the live cd's from Pearl Jam, the Doors, and the Allman Brothers shows that I attended, and it was well worth the $$. I believe the Hip record all of their shows as it is, so what would it cost to burn them to blank cd's and distribute? Even if they just break even, it still gets good quality live hip cd's into circulation.
It might even motivate them to change up their set lists even more if they knew they were being recorded each night?

If this is true than they should follow the Pearl Jam model for releasing "official"" boots:
If you had pre-ordered the show, you were given a weblink to DL low-quality un-mastered/un-mixed MP3 files, to tide you over until the final CD arrived in the mail.
When the CD finally arrived, it came with its own unique cardboard sleeve, as well as stickers detailing the show and setlist to put on the sleeve if you desired. The CDs themselves were awesome.. they had a specific design stamped onto them, and the design was determined by the region being toured--I saw the Vancouver show, so when I got my CDs in the mail they had maple leaves on them. The colour scheme was reversed from disc to disc. The discs had the songlist printed right on them, as well as the date and location of the show.
Most importantly the sound quality of the boots released by PJ was PHENOMENAL! It was completely mixed and mastered, and over all sounded very professional. Not bad at all, for $15 US.
I compare this to the live recording that I bought of the Metallica concert that I attended in March--I was given a link to download some FLAC files, and was provided with some CD covers to print out if I wanted too. The shound quality was incredibely average also, definately nothing to get excited about.
I would gladly pay an extra few dollars, and wait an extra few days if I was getting a package like I did from Pearl Jam.
