Mean Streak - Jenna_Bird - 06-15-2004

This afternoon I was listening to the album teasers, yet again, and the lyrical selection from "Mean Streak" sounded really familar. Later, while driving around, I popped in my boot of 10-05-2002 (Syracuse) and found that the same lyrics had been tacked onto the boot's version of "Scared". Did they appear anywhere else on tour? Has this already been brought up and I somehow missed it??

Would those be the "dust clinging to the air" lyrics? I love those!

I heard those lyrics in Kelowna last year. Nice to see them resurrected in a song.

that's them. the lyrics are they were recorded at the 'Cuse show are as follows: "I never saw I stranger out there, I swear, I swear...from the dirt road from my house, to your house...look at the way the dust clings to the air".

The "stranger out there" part sounds really familiar. I'll have to check the boots I have from the two Winnipeg shows on the IVL tour. For some reason I think that part is from older shows too though, can't remember right now.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think some of those lyrics date back to the Phantom Power tour in '98. I seem to remember the "never saw a stranger out there" part popping up during extended jams of NOIS and Meridian.

That very well may be...I think I may have them on a 2000 boot from Bill's Bar...so there's no telling how long Gord has been hanging on to them.

- Jenna_Bird - 06-15-2004

Are those lyrics relayted to the "Bottom's of their boots touching the tops of the grass." rants? I love those lyrics, talk about poetic imagery.

These lyrics are also at the end of Bobcaygeon from the last tour. I want to say that they are on the Syracuse show and the concerts after 9-1-02. This was my favorite rant of the tour. I cannot wait to hear how they do the lyrics in this song

Those lyrics were repeated many times over the last few years.

Most recently during Grace, Too at Edgefest 2003. I also recall them from 2002 at The Hummingbird Centre.

He's probably got notebooks full of stuff we haven't even heard yet. As he says in Coke Machine Glow:

"Words keep like canned peaches if they're good enough."

also appears in courage at the concert for toronto show around the 24 minute mark.
