Man, there are people who would stab their own mother with a sewing needle to go to these shows (ie..hipbasers/club members), and the radio stations are giving away heaps of tickets to casual listeners?? That really bugs me. I'm betting half of the crowd will be filled with contest winners who don't own a single Hip album aside from Up to Here.

To be fair however, I'm going to assume there were many Hipbasers and Hip Club members who didn't have the luxury of being able to buy tickets at 10.00 am, due to work, etc. Maybe this will give those die-hard Hip fans who couldn't buy tickets an oppurtunity to be at the show. I'm sure that if any of you who were lucky enough to get tickets this morning DIDN'T, then you'd be tuned into "The Bear" day and night (no pun intended) for a chance to win tickets. A Hip fan is a Hip fan, regardless of his or her impressive bootleg collection, quick ticket-buying finger, etc. Above all, everyone enjoy the show.

Agreed. It just takes one live show to turn a newbie into ONE OF US! All are welcome, NOIS fans et al.

Very true. Perhaps I was too quick to judge. Now that I think about it, any chance to turn a newbie into a hardcore fan is worth giving away a few tickets for.

We must remember... the Hip are playing these shows to promote the release of "In Between Evolution" which explains the amount of radio station contests.
Each station that is giving them away should at least be mentioning the album and release date in the 30-second promo's used to promte the concerts or right after giving them away.
Starting Monday Classic Rock 101 will be giving them away on the morning show for 2 weeks, but it was on the grounds that the release date and Vaccination Scar were used in the promo spots.
