Darien Lake.... - Summiteer - 06-05-2004

Just wondering, I was checking out the Darien Lakez site and it lookz like a pretty cool place to spend the day. I've always wanted to ride those type of coasterz where your like sitting in a chair. How does the Canada's Wonderland compare to Darien Lakez? as far as various atractionz offered? I'm planning on headin out east in a couple ears so I needta know.

Darien is a good time. It has been so long since I was at Canadas Wonderland that I couldnt honestly compare the two. Darien has a great water park and has some good coasters like Superman: Ride of Steel, The Viper, The Mind Eraser, The Predator (which will give you a nice headache). There is also Grizzly Run if you don't mind getting wet. They have added wuite a bit since I have been there last. If you haven't been there before, there is a lot to do. You could also book a campsite and make a nice little weekend out of it with the fam or some friends, especially when there is a Hip concert going on.

...there is a good idea of different rides and attractions there.

It takes about 30 minutes to get there from Buffalo.

Superman is one of the best roller coasters I've ever been on. Hopefully they will reopen it soon (the New England mishap).

It also improved alot since six flags bought it, they put millions of dollars into the park.

Tailgating I take it is drinking in the parking lot? Confusedcratch: I have never heard that term used before.

- VioletlightHeron - 06-11-2004

Yep, Tailgating is drinking beers and cooking out in the parking lot. Yet another strange Americanism that seeps into cultures everywhere

Your best bet is to tailgate in the parking lot before the show (you can tailgate all day!) Pretty much anything goes, although the security and police patrol occasionally for drugs. Bring a grill or other food and lots of beer. Then again you can tailgate for just about any event in Buffalo! You will only have to buy a couple of beers inside, if you choose. Plus many people also choose to tailgate afterwards! Much different from the Hip show I attended at the Molson Amp. We were the only ones having a beer in the parking lot and Toronto's finest were there quickly making us pour all of our beer out. And they said they were letting us off easy because we were from out of town!!!??? If you're coming from Canada, hit the duty free, cheap beer and liquor!!! I've got about 10 friends who have Bills season tickets and come down from T.O. and even further north for every game. They love tailgating and bring tons of beer from the duty free.
Enjoy the show!!!

It's called "tailgating" because most people sit on the tailgate of their pick-up trucks and party in the parking lot. I think it is the real reason behind the popularity of the NFL.

Most cops look the other way in Canada regarding tailgating. The issue at the Moslon Amphitheatre is the fact that it lies in downtown Toronto, not out in a country field; and it shares a parking lot with a family amusement park.

Nothing like tailgating in a blizzard with a big bonefire in a barrel going!

Agreed!
The majority of the time, the tailgating is more fun than the games themself.
