it's tough to say, i really like some of the songs on battle but i think i had more expectations from CMG, especially since we had heard so many of the songs previously played by the hip during their jams.....gord really turned alot of the songs into a totally different direction insomniacs of the world goodnight, starpainters, black flies, every irrelevance, these were some great jams inbetween NOIS and Hundreth and i'm not going to lie to you i was dissapointed when i heard them on CMG. anyone else feel that way.

Yep. I was hoping for rocked out familiar versions of rants, but then again, given how rants usually turn out radically different in final form (Life is Fogettin' being the most recent example) we shouldn't have been surprised.
I voted for BOTN, but Canada Geese, Vancouver Divorce and Trick Rider are some of Gord's best stuff ever.

How about Chancellor? Starpainters? IMO CMG is filled with gems, besides lofty pines

Battle of the Nudes by a hair! Christmastime in Toronto and 11th Fret are as good as pretty much anything I've heard from Gord. Then again Chancellor, Yer Possessed, Every Irrevelance, Vancouver Divorce, Canada Geese, Trick Rider are great. Both are great and it shows how diverse Gord really is but the only drawback on CMG is Atom Egoyan and his very annoying classical guitar! I like the fact that Gord has that respect from his peers and can get so many Canadian musicians to contribute to his music.

Yep for sure a hard decision, but I also went with CMG. Here's hoping for another solo disc for the summer of 05.
