Where does Vaccination Scar fit? - beanmedic - 04-10-2004

haha

bean. I was thinking of this earlier...what will this CD be. I'm betting we're going to get a mix of the more introspective lyrics (i.e. - IVL) and the solid rock tempo of the old stuff (road apples). Maybe they saw a that Darkest One got the best reponse off of IVL and geared this stuff towards a faster sound

I think it's very reminiscent of both Road Apples and Phantom Power, but there's also something about it that's a little different from anything they've
done before. Part of it might be the production. Adam Kasper is well-known for his raw, live-off-the-floor recording techniques. I noticed right away that both the guitars and drums are very high up in the mix and right in your
face. I love it! The lyrics are fantastic (no surprise there) and Robby's
slide playing is awesome.

Yeah, this is sooo Adam Kasper....I mean, can everyone picture Pearl Jam playing this song? I sure can...wow...just downloaded it now...great, too great....

Kasperian - Stephen Dame - 04-11-2004

Heron Outside,

Just what I was thinking... very PJ, very Kasper, but with just enough of Gord's angry teeth gnashing and beautiful guitar wailing to make it there's... and ours.

- The Heron Outside - 04-11-2004

What I found to be very PJ reminiscent was the guitar fade out at the end...not sure what a guitar player would call it...the wail right there at the end. That took me by surprise. But Kasper's presence was definitely felt. I can see a slide guitar used in the studio Ballroom as well too...

Things are starting to shape up for this album, with Scar, Ballroom, and Joe. From what we have heard so far, it seems like it will be quite an amazing thing. I just can't wait until june, this album will rock.

Vaccination Scar blew me away.... completely.... wow..... :what

- beanmedic - 04-11-2004

it seems even better today than it did yesterday. it really blew me away yesterday, and even more this morning. today it seems like it rocks even more.

This song is great. I agree with a lot of the above in regards to hearing IVL style lyrics, and some RA and PP sound to it. You can definitly hear Kaspers influence.

I also love how "life is forgetting, life is for getting." found a home in a new song.

Love it, can't wait till June!! :thumb:

I agree that the music has the sound of Road Apples or Phantom Power. If you take the vocals into account it's most like Phantom Power though, considering that Road Apples contains Gords most "agressive" style of singing. If he'd just let it all out like he used to, then it would be Road Apples all the way.
