Misheard Lyrics - thipfan73 - 03-20-2004
Ok I'll admit it. I have lyricitis.
There's been plenty of songs I have misunderstood over the years. Like Lucille by Kenny Rogers "Four hundred children and not a crop in the feild"
I remember many years ago when I first heard ABAC I thought he was singing "A heterocentric", don't ask me what it means, but that's what I heard. lol! I thought when he sang "Courage" I didn't think it was courage, I'm not sure exactly what he was singing. lol
Yes, I was listening on a crappy radio in the middle of a lot of noise, so you can't blame me. Before now, I mostly heard The Hip in the 90's when I was working on a bus as a bus monitor and the driver listened to CHOM out of Montreal every single day.
Am I the only idiot?

Heterocentric = Jerry Falwell :lol:
At first I thought the "hurry" in Lake Fever was "courage". I was like "is Gord repeating himself again?"

The first time I heard 'Courage' on the radio, I thought Gord was singing 'Today' instead of 'Courage'... but if you think about it, they don't even sound similar. If you have a vague recollection of a catchy song, I think its only natural to develop your own lyrics where the real ones are missing.

I always thought it was "Bill Barilko dropped his beer, what a bummer"....Just kidding.

Youre already doing his wife... flying to the next part.
(In Silver jet when he really says "with your I-need-to-and-here's-why, flying to the next part")
I really thought he said this!
Greasy Jungle -

I thought that in Greasy Jungle he said:
Greasy Jungle may draw the bliss noir
(actuallly it's metropolis noir...)
not too bad I guess, but I remember just belting it out and one of my buds started laughing his ass off

Okay admit it, its happened to all of us at one time or another........singing at the top of your lungs to a song only for someone to turn and say, "that's not the friggin' words!" I'm sure some of us out there are gulity of this on some Hip songs. I'll start.......
Had to laugh the first time I heard my girlfriend singing out loud "I worked it in, I worked it in to look like that, Its my Fifth Emmision Cap"................
And yes I am guilty too............hearing Music at Work on the Radio a few times before th album came out, I thought for sure the line was "and when the sunlight hits the honor bar don't hesitate".................I thought this was such a great line, taliing about being on the road in a band, walking up in the morning in ahotel room and cracking open a drink as soon as the sun was up.................needles to say, I was wrong (but still think its better than Olive Oil??
Anyone else............
