The Weakest Link - The Weakest Links - Round 7 - gsmacleod - 11-16-2018
With The Modern Spirit having the most votes, we move on to round 7.
1 - Another Midnight and Lionized
3 - The Rules
4 - Summer's Killing Us
5 - Hot Mic and Impossibilium
7 - Born In The Water
8 - The Modern Spirit
For the last of The Hip Weakest Link polls, we are going to turn the voting around; instead of voting for the song you think is the weakest, you are going to vote for the song you think is the strongest. We will then eliminate the song with the most votes and continue until we are left with the "champion" - the weakest song in the discography.
Vote for the song you feel is STRONGEST from the list. After 48 hours we will remove the song with the most votes and move on to round 8. In the event of a tie, both (or more) songs will be eliminated.
This round will end Sunday 9:14am Eastern.

Yeah, without looking up the lyrics I can't remotely recall Wild Mountain Honey. I went with Frozen too, for the memorableness of the gang vocal.

I kinda like that tune, but only after seeing them play it live on the '09 tour. That song was a beast in concert.

The "whoas", while an appealing idea in principle, feel generic. If they came from Paul and Gord S, instead of Bob Rock's studio minions, I might feel different. As it stands, I don't care for most of the background vocals on WATS because they aren't sung by Paul.

I've had a soft spot for Wild Mountain Honey from the first listen.
Always reminded me of Judas Priest's Victim of Changes, you know the part: "You been - foolin' - with some - hot guy..."

To me it sounds very reminiscent of Zeppelin, especially Johnny's thunderous Bonham-esque drumming.

Agreed; I also hear lots of Page influence in the main riff as well.
