This outcome is a surprise to me. Phantom Power has an interesting cover, but DFN is nothing short of perfect. There is a feeling of unease that runs through almost all of the lyrics on DFN which syncs well with the feeling evoked by the foreboding forest on the cover. The PP cover looks cool and has a tie-in to "Something On", but really has no connection to the rest of the album. In fact the bright yellow of the cover makes it feel like a summer album (and it was released mid July), but the lyrics are predominantly late winter/early spring.

So is this the end of the line for these? I was thinking we could do "thoughts and insights" for all the solo albums as well, followed by more weakest links for each one. It would certainly help keep the forum alive and kicking for a while, at least until we get another Hip or Gord solo release.

I was away from the website for a while. Not to milk it too much, but did it go as far as doing the weakest link of the weakest links? I mean did we ever take the first song voted off of each album and do a weakest link of them, then the second weakest, third weakest etc?

I guess maybe that's going a bit far though..... :roll: .

My plan this morning was to start an overall album thread and then we'd do the gold medallists and then finish with the weakest of the weakest.

Got tied up so will start tomorrow.

I think this poll will inspire some good debate. It might end up being more interesting to argue between "Summer's Killing Us" and "The Rules" than it was to argue over "Grace, Too" vs. "Nautical Disaster".

I like this idea. It would give me a reason to listen all through Battle of the Nudes again, which I haven't done in years.

BotN has been my go-to Gord this year. Def The Hip / Gord vinyl that I have listened to the most since the reissues began.
