The Weakest Link - Silver Medallists - Round 2 - gsmacleod - 05-26-2018

No huge surprise to see Highway Girl receive the most votes.

14 - Highway Girl

Vote for the song that you feel is the weakest from the second place finishers in each poll (studio albums only). After 48 hours, we will remove the song with the most votes and move on to Round 3. In the event of a tie, both (or more) songs will be eliminated.

This round will end on Monday at 10:12am Eastern.

Very tough. But, Vaccination Scar is a little pedestrian compared to the others and surely doesn’t get the Number 2 spot on any other album. Another realistic choice would be The Drop Off or Attawapiskat.

These are all great songs however.

I'm amazed that 18 people are looking at the above list and are disappointed that Highway Girl is not on it.

This is going to be brutal from this point forward. I love all of these songs. I'm going to quietly vote for Dark Canuck and hope that nobody notices so I don't have to defend my decision beyond the fact that I get impatient waiting out the two minutes for the part where it all starts getting good.

Also, I can't believe someone voted for Gift Shop. The studio version of that song is nothing short of majestic, and features arguably the greatest guitar solo of Rob Baker's career.

100% this. I never thought Gift Shop was a great song live. But the way it builds...and that solo...it's perfection.

One question for the person who voted for Gift Shop... Do you like guitar solo's? 'Cause the one on Gift Shop is arguably the best solo on this entire silver medallist list. That outro is one of the most sublime pieces of music that the Hip have ever recorded.
