I really enjoy Downie turning "face" in a six syllable word in "Possessed". It's a moment where my wife and I, singing along together in the car, will turn to each other and smile as we drag that out. However, this vote was an easy choice for me. I'm riding Machine all the way.

Voted for "Machine." "IAWPBTHM" is masterful; plus, the associations with Gord's diagnosis and the tour announcement and build-up are too powerful for me to ignore.

So is anyone interested in doing all the solo albums after this? I've enjoyed these threads quite a bit, and I think it'd be fun continue these discussions. Thoughts?

I'm in. I think the turnout numbers would likely drop a fair bit compared to the Hip albums but even if we could get 20-30 people interested in voting on the GD solo albums the polls would be worthwhile. Beyond 'Chancellor' and 'Trick Rider', which enjoy widespread acclaim on this board, I have no idea what songs fans really love on the solo albums so it would be interesting to find out. Hopefully Shane is up for it and if not maybe he can enlist an apprentice. (And Shane, thanks for all the work on the Hip polls!)

On a side note, While Machine is running away with this (rightfully so), it has gotten a few more votes than I expected in this round.

I'd intended to have "Machine" win my voting all along, and so I voted for/against "Mind" - but found it surprisingly hard to do that despite my longstanding view that "Machine" is the class of this album. I guess "Mind" does have all those poignant associations and *is* really a pretty great track!

Before moving on to the solo albums, any interest in doing one weakest link tourney for Hip albums? As we moved through this, I've re-ordered and re-ordered again my ranking of Hip albums. There's been a couple of albums that have moved up and down as I re-listened to some of these albums in depth again.

Eliminate one album at a time. What would be the consensus first to go? Which would win?
