About This Map
Vote for the song you believe to be the weakest on Now For Plan A and after 72 hours, we will remove the two songs that have the most votes. As before, a song must have at least 10% of the vote in order to be removed otherwise it will carry forward into the following round.
The poll will end Monday at 10:36am Eastern.
Happy voting!
Shane

Anyone thinking of voting for MMP should go back and read Potsie’s post about it in Round 2. He perfectly articulated what’s so great about this song. Lots of quality songs left of the list though. Not an easy selection. And it does make me happy that the two Sarah Harmer songs remain. I love her.

Thank Jeebus MMP survived. It's a fascinating song, exquisite in its lyrical minimalism, and the chord progression is wonderfully evocative - a sonic brew like no other in their catalogue, and a case of the band finding potent new vocabularies in which to work. I actually tend to agree that Gord oversings on it, but don't find it at all fatal to the track.
A brief eulogy here for 'About this Map,' though. While it's not a top-shelf number, and I'm not outraged by its elimination in the way I've been about some other tunes in these polls, it *is* an overlooked cut, with a nifty metaphor and some really great-sounding guitar work. A bit like 'Done and Done,' it presents its wares with a directness and simplicity that probably turns off some fans, but is, to my mind, attractively no-nonsense. Good song, we hardly knew ye.

Sorry dudes, I'm also going MMP, but mostly because the drum and bass are too low in the mix...though that applies to a lot of songs on this album.
I can't vote off the title track yet because I can't hear the song without thinking of the masterpiece of a video that Max Montalvo made with Sarah.
Attawapiskat-Transformation-WWTBI are the big three for me, in order.

Unfortunately I have to vote NFPA this round, even though I really like it. The other songs are just too strong.

MMP for me as well, I've never liked that song.

I have a lot of trouble hearing the title track, myself. It's merely OK...verging on boring to my ear. Oh well, we all have our blind spots (deaf spots?), as the voting against MMP shows

Accidentally mis-cast my vote. But I would say Now for plan A followed by Man Machine Poem are the weakest remaining.

MMP in the lead. This is absolute madness. What the hell??

When it gets a discernible tune and gord stops screaming, I’ll reconsider. But not before then.

Yeah. I don't dislike it. But this is basically how I feel about it.

I think of this as "good" screaming. as opposed to "bad" screaming like he did when playing live during those years

Personally I don't hear screaming at all on that track. To borrow Moof Milker's quote from the round 2 thread:
"Less of a scream here and more of an impassioned, forceful projection into the cosmos."

Oversinging is one thing, Screamo Gord is another. I can see the critique that MMP is oversung, but I sure don't hear it as unmelodic screaming. Sometimes I wonder if people were so turned off by Screamo Gord that they read him back into certain tracks from NFPA, like this one. I see that Gord as a purely live phenomenon (and an inexplicable one to boot).
