The Weakest Link - We Are The Same - Round 4 - gsmacleod - 03-11-2018
Round 3 sees The Exact Feeling, Speed River and Coffee Girl each receive enough votes to be eliminated. With that, me move on to Round 4.

Vote for the song you believe to be the weakest on We Are The Same and after 48 hours, we will remove the two songs that have the most votes. As before, a song must have at least 10% of the vote in order to be removed otherwise it will carry forward into the following round.
The poll will end Tuesday at 11:15am Eastern.

I cannot believe that any carbon-based life-form would vote against 'Morning Moon' in favour of bloated Rock excess like 'Depression Suite' or middling stuff like 'Love is a First.'
(Also sad, but not surprising, to see the excellent 'Coffee Girl' booted off in favour of a number of inferior tracks).

The anti-Morning Moon guys were in line early.
I finally got to vote for something other than The Exact Feeling, and gave my axe to Honey Please because it is a bit lightweight compared to the balance of the remaining contenders (love 'em, or hate 'em). Also it is only the second best Hip "Honey" song (after Oh Honey, but ahead of Wild Mountain Honey).

It's among the wheat. So far only the chaff has fallen off.
It is the song that I find hardest to sing along to after all these years. Kinda makes me like it more; still trying to learn it; still trying to pick the jam, become the Sam-I-Am. It's a weird little nugget. It won't be in the final three (Depression, Recluse, Morning Moon), but I think it is still hanging with its homies right now.

My vote went to Depression Suite this round, although could just as easily went with Honey, Please. The deeper we get into this poll, the more apparent it becomes that this is by far my least favourite Hip album. There are really only 2 songs on the entire album that I really love (Morning Moon & Last Recluse).

Despite a ridiculous 5 votes for the sublime 'Last Recluse,' I'm with ryan93 in being convinced that that song and 'Moon' are unquestionably the class of this album. I'd put 'Country Day' and 'Coffee Girl' on the next tier. I understand that 'Coffee Girl' rubs some people the wrong way for some reason, but there is no frigging way ANY votes should be going to Moon, Country Day, or Last Recluse at this stage of the poll.
I don't agree that this is their worst album, but that's another discussion. (One thing this album does is frontload its best material; that tends to help any record, at least to my ear).

My general view on this album is confirmed by the voting -- all other albums I've faced a much earlier "Sophie's Choice"....I can't believe I'm voting for this track...here it's going to be easy until the final two. And that's not to say it's necessarily a bad album, as a collective it somewhat holds together, but as tracks there are not many that I see as crucial listening to appreciate their recorded output.
