The Weakest Link - Music @ Work - Round 1 - gsmacleod - 12-06-2017
With Emperor Penguin taking the title for Phantom Power we are halfway through the catalogue. Looking forward to how things progress from here!
So far our champions are:
EP - Smalltown Bringdown
UTH - New Orleans is Sinking
RA - Three Pistols
FC - Locked in the Trunk of a Car
DFN - Nautical Disaster
TATH - Ahead by a Century
PP - Emperor Penguin
Vote for the song you believe to be the weakest on Music @ Work and after 48 hours, we will remove the three songs that have the most votes. As before, a song must have at least 10% of the vote in order to be removed otherwise it will carry forward into the following round.
The poll will end Friday at 8:53am Eastern.

This one's going to be easy for a while - I love this album, but there's a much bigger spread between favourite songs and least-favourite than on previous polls.

Wild Mountain Honey sucks. It's just that simple. One of the worst things they ever put to record. Probably the worst, IMHO. Does anyone know which band member is primarily responsible for this abomination?
After my traumas over the PP poll :lol: it's gratifying to see that I agree with the early returns on this one. WMH, The Bastard, Freak Turbulence are all duds and rightly being singled out for early dismissal. :thumb: You go, Hipbase Forum!

I admire you all for being able to post on here again. I'm still in the depths of missing Gord & being sad, but an email notice today dragged me back here to the titanic & I'm gonna try to get my emotional shit in gear for I̶n̶ ̶D̶u̶b̶i̶o̶u̶s̶ ̶B̶a̶t̶t̶l̶e̶ In Violet Light. I cannot CANNOT let my sense of loss get in the way of celebrating the Dire Wolf/Dark Canuck 2-step that closes out that album.

The Completists and Freak Turbulence were the third and fourth singles off M@W but I don't ever recall hearing them on the radio back then. Not great choices for releases, IMO. I have to think that there probably wasn't much of a marketing push from the label with those two songs. Not really worth the effort.
The only other "single" that could potentially go in the first round would be "In View", which has it's share of detractors on here. However, I think it'll probably make it through to round 2.

Wild Mountain Honey - I don't hate it; in fact, I don't even dislike it but IMO it is certainly the weakest track on the album.

I've got a lot of Hip songs stuck in my head...usually because I absolutely love them...but for some reason this one, which I'm not particularly fond of, lingers.
