The Weakest Link - Phantom Power - Round 1 - gsmacleod - 11-23-2017

With Ahead by a Century walking away with the title for Ahead by a Century, we move on to Phantom Power. So far our champions are:

EP - Smalltown Bringdown
UTH - New Orleans is Sinking
RA - Three Pistols
FC - Locked in the Trunk of a Car
DFN - Nautical Disaster
TATH - Ahead by a Century

Vote for the song you believe to be the weakest on Phantom Power and after 48 hours, we will remove the three songs that have the most votes. As before, a song must have at least 10% of the vote in order to be removed otherwise it will carry forward into the following round.

The poll will end Saturday at 9:09am Eastern.

First album since Up To Here where the first choice pick wasn’t easy. Hmmm. “The Rules,” I love you - some classic Gord lines, I especially love this one:
“Salesman said this vacuum's guaranteed
It could suck an ancient virus from the sea
It could put the dog out of a job...”

Went with Thompson Girl...was between that and The Rules but I can honestly say there isn't a song on this album that I don't like. Usually there is one track that stands out for me as the weakest link, but Phantom Power may be their strongest album start to finish.

There are not any weak songs on this album, but some are just head and shoulders above the rest. The first four will be easy for me, but again, that's not because they are weak/bad, its just that they are too overshadowed by the others.

The Rules is a song i have never enjoyed. can't put my finger on the reason, but i will always skip it

So very conflicted; have decided several time, go to vote, change my mind.

This is by far the hardest first round decision for me so far.
