how people think these fake retailers are real is beyond me. if you really want to support Gord's charity, call the hospital and make a donation. stop buying shit from some strangers on facebook just because they tell you they are donating proceeds to charity. :roll:

Me too.

Have also been reporting the sellers with burned dvds, reprinted posters, unlicensed photos etc.

The for-profit companies with their grocery store "charity silent auctions" have questionable ethics as well.

To be fair, it's not just the hip.

I must use facebook to follow a number of my favourite bands. My feed is constantly inundated with the t-shirt ads for the Hip and for other artists. Sometimes the tshirt people are clever and use lyrics or parts of band member names to be clever and circumvent copyright. Many others outright use the bands name without permission.

I'm surprised Facebook has had any repercussions for allowing these ads for pirated goods? It goes way beyond The Tragically Hip Sad

I agree. It is very frustrating. I even know some people who have purchased some of the stuff without knowing it was fake. You'd think something with a band's name and logo would be a little harder to pirate and sell as some random.

I even have ads come up all the time with t-shirts and other merch that are all "architect" related with different sayings and logos on them because I have it listed on my facebook as my profession. It's pretty messed up.. I'm sure it's legal to do so, but these companies have made anything and everything on a t-shirt and are targeting people based on their profiles.
