A few technical questions about Giftshop -
Livi - 02-18-2017
I have a few technical questions about the studio recorded version of Giftshop on Trouble at the Henhouse...
1. What instrument is providing the background ambient soundscape in the intro behind the opening guitar notes? Is it an organ? What effects are being used if any on it?
I know that on the Live Between Us version, Rob Baker is creating something on his guitar that is different than the studio recording. It has a lengthy delay effect on it. I'm not referring to that.
3. At 1:01 there is a high pitched repeating noise that then fades out over the next 8 or so seconds. It occurs again at 2:13. What type of effect/instrument would create that?
2. What pedal effects is Rob Baker using during the lead parts? Specifically at 2:00 to 2:09 and at 2:45 to 3:02 of the studio TATH version. I know in the Live Between Us recording, there is delay that isn't in the studio recording. Any other effects?

Ask Rob on Twitter. He's really good about answering questions pertaining to his contributions to the band.

Those are good questions...some pretty subtle but effective sounds during the intro (studio version) for sure. There's some simple delay and tremolo from the guitar but there's something keyboard oriented too going on. If Rob answers on Twitter....Please post!!
