Tthip - 12-12-2016
Who likes me enough to not make me drive 6 hours to Kingston and would be willing to pick one up for me?

That's disappointing for anyone who doesn't live in Kingston. I would have made the trip this weekend but there's no way I can during the week

I missed the advertisement about these going on sale. Where was it posted? Given the demand might more be produced??

More are being produced. Be aware that to purchase one, you need to show a receipt that you have spent $25 at a downtown store. They are only available for purchase at the Grand Theatre, K-Rock Centre, and the Kingston Visitors centre.

But with most of the supply of The Hip ornaments sold out on Monday, Jan MacDonald, projects manager-marketing for Downtown Kingston, said don't fret, more will be available this week.
"I think the ones that are out there today there is a good chance we'll sell them all, but our order is not quite complete so we're still expecting more. So people need not worry," she said.
MacDonald wouldn't say how many of The Hip pewter ornaments were manufactured.
"It's a limited edition. The exact number depends on the ornament," she said. "We judge the popularity but we keep them to a certain amount, and that's why it's a limited edition."
MacDonald said the supply of ornaments on Monday at the Rogers K-Rock Centre and the Visitor Information Centre were able to be replenished.
"We were able to get them some more ornaments, so they had some satisfied customers," she said. "Hopefully we'll have one for everybody, but, as I said, it's a limited edition.
At the Grand Theatre, people were buying multiple ornaments, with one woman walking out with five.
The ornaments are $10 each, but people must also be able to show at least $25 worth of receipts from a downtown business per ornament.

My sister near the Grand theatre, one of three locations where these are being sold. Monday was a hilariously mucky day (which I had to spend shovelling) and the lines were still huge.
Photos and video coverage has been hilarious, I find it funny that the grandmas are buying as many of these as they can get their hands on

The high tech scalper bots beat us to summer tour tickets, and the low tech senior retirees have beat us to winter holiday ornaments.

I hope to be able to do the same ornament thing for longtime running hipbasers as I did for the tshirts - but can't guarantee anything until I have them in hand. Please dont flood my PM inbox yet.

Please post in this thread if you want an ornament and can commit to pay via interac email xfer or gifted paypal $25+actual shipping cost when the time comes.
No, I am not buying these for $10 and flipping them to net $15 each. Without enough Nov1+ dt kingston receipts, $25 will be my cost for the majority of ornaments in the quantities I am attempting to buy, and yes I can provide a receipt... Another way to look at it - hipbase out of town price is $10 cheaper than Kingstonians have spent to acquire these - and that is before the cost of gas, parking, waiting in line, etc.
I will do my best to accommodate as many longtime basers and new users as possible - When signing up, please be aware that some preference could be given to usernames who have participated in Hipbase over the years.
For example, Juan who selflessly periscoped several dates on the MMP show tour for all of us gets an ornament for free :music
